Lookin awsome! I love your budget ebb/flow table so much lol. Whats it, like, 40 bucks worth of materials not including the pump? so good for a starter setup. If your resevior is getting alge every 4-5 days try throwing a black garbage bag over top of it and pull the rim all the way to the floor, it wont totally save you but its a super cheap and easy way of keeping light out of the res and might add another few days before you absolutly have to change ur water. Another thought is to go to the local aquarium store and see if they have a submersable carbon filter, that can add up to a week to a res but you have to add nutes as some may be filtered out. Do you take the plants off the table and scrub it when u change the water? if not that will greatly reduce the alge buildup as alot of the alge is most likely gonna adhere to the table and get all that nice light to multiply before sending its "brood" back into the res.
Lookin fab, i love the creativity of the setup, cheap and easy. Btw whats the wattage on your light? was looking through and couldnt find it.

Hey pro, nice to hear from you. Dude, that setup didn't cost me anything. I made it from stuff I already had. My reservoir is a garbage can cut down to size, my pump is a 1/8 hp I already had hooked up to a garden hose, and the table is one of those plastic bins you slide under the bed lol. Buying new would of been less than $10 for the can and the table. I needed something cheap until I can justify increasing my grow room budget. I will be going on my final shopping trip in probably 3 weeks to set up my flowering room so stay tuned! Lots of new developments hehe.

I had a lid for the reservoir, but since my water isn't being drained into a hose I need to keep it open to catch the water. That's the only down side to the table...but it will get me through this generation and enable me to build a proper table for the next round of (hopefully) clones.

I haven't been cleaning the table, but you're right I definitely should! I am changing my res tomorrow so that's what I'll do. I don't want to move the plants around too much since there are roots growing out the bottom already, but I doubt it'll do much harm. and my veg light is a 400w MH.

I'm gonna update next Wednesday on the status of the grow, but the big developments will probably be in 2-3 more weeks. Boring veg time! These plants are starting to stinkkk tho lol

Nicey nice! cant wait to see what you do for flowering, everyone has a slightly different way of doing it that works for they're setup.

Good call on worrying about lacerating a root while cleaning the table, thats a tough call, not cleaning the table could lead to alge buildup on the roots depriving them of oxygen but moving them could damage them and at this young stage and slow veg considerably, good luck in whatever you choose to do. Here's a great thread about alge and how to deal with it https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/253914-algae-problem.html, i personally have never had many issues with it because i use an all-in-one system that blocks light at every source, in truth i have more probs with alge durring cloning than any other time due to high humidity and unavoidable light contamination, once in a clean waterfarm system the small amount of alge dies very quickly.

cant wait to see more pics, btw, have you decided if you are going to scrog yet or going for a straight grow? i assume straight grow from your time frame but im a scrogger hard core and always trying to "push it" on others lolz!

I asked you on the other website whether or no it would be necessary and honestly I keep going back and forth... At first I think that since this is my first grow I'll just let it grow naturally, but I've heard such good things about scrog that I do a lot of research on it. It honestly seems like most people who screen are sativa growers. This plant is only expected to grow 20 inches max, so even if I screen above 8 inches I can't really see what benefits I will get from that. I would LOVE your opinion on it.

From what I read of this strain, it's gonna need to be staked somehow anyway so, that's a +1 in the screen side. I'm just honestly not sure if such a little plant needs it.

As for my algae issue...I'm going to try to cover my reservoir with the trash bags as you mentioned. I'm cleaning my res tomorrow so I will let you know how that goes.

Man, I wrote a big long thing about scrog (you know at this point how i like to go on about it lol) and then my browser was all "no, we're not doing that" so this is take 2, i apologize if its more brief than i intended lulz!

A brief of my reasoning behind using scrog; In Vt medical growers are only allowed 2 flowering plants at a time so to deal with the patients needs and keep costs low we try to produce as much as we can with a minimal amount of actual plants, alot of Vt grower use the "tree" method, grow it as big as you can (i have seen some 6ft and not into flowering yet) this is ineffective i feel, you end up with alot of "trunk" and a big bulky top that you have to tie up all over the place. I found scrog to be the best way to use as many lumens as possible in a small space (4x4 or whatever your light source recommends) controlling the canopy allows us to get a "big" plant but still control the flower growth so that you aren't wasting energy on a trunk or a shit pile of fan leaves (some scroggers trim fan leave voraciously) anything under the canopy can be trimmed away and energy isn't wasted on keeping them alive yet not working.

About strains that work best in scrog, yes, most hardcore scroggers use sativas, this is mostly because they veg that much faster and turnaround is better, I have seen a few very successful indica scrogs but again, it takes longer. The "recommended" veg time for a VK is 3 weeks, this is almost no time at all for a scrog, I'm sure i will have them vegging for double that but again, i can afford that time as i cant even start to flower til my other harvest is done (sad panda), that 3 week veg time works exceptionally well if you have 100 plants in a greenhouse and dont care how big they get because your turnaround time is nil lol.

The restriction I have most likely dont apply to you, the only other issue with "straight grows" is phenotype, if you get all indica phenos thats great! they will grow at similar rates and your tops will be nice and plump, if you get a sativa pheno your light hight will be dictated by how tall that one plant gets and the rest will suffer, scrog eliminates this by keeping a uniform canopy no matter the pheno, one plant may flower a few inches taller than the rest but thats considerably easier to deal with than the several feet difference i have seen between phenos of the same strain.

Just some stuff to chew on, I'm super excited to see how your grow turns out either way, i figure share my knowledge like so many have done for me, shit, the guy who trained me 10+ years ago thinks scrog is a "dumb waste of time" and "only for super "anal" growers" lol, he harvests about half what i harvest and the difference in quality is non-existent so i obviously think what I'm doing is better but i also spend time with my plants every day, he changes his res every 7 days and thats all he sees of them til harvest so theres that to take into account.

Ya, I feel you. I'm definitely viewing this as a "job" is as much, I set aside an hour a day to maintain my room and garden to keep things growing optimally. I seriously appreciate the feedback you've given me. I think we can learn from each other lol. I don't really have your limitations but I am still interested in maximizing my growth per plant. However, I am also looking at maximizing my harvest per plant per year. Meaning I want to seriously figure out what my optimal veg time is. My options are 10 week sog, 16 week straight grow with some lst to keep an even canopy, or more like a 20 week scrog.

With your limitations it's not beneficial to throw 2 plants into flowering right away, but in my light footprint, i could do 20 plant screen, 40 plant straight, or 160 plant sog. Again, I think I will grow it out straight and then evaluate for my next generation.

Btw plants are growing big! pics to come this wednesday.

Hey! Sorry for being late, I'm having internet issues at the moment. It seems to have sorted itself out and I have new pictures for you. These plants are getting bushy as hell and I'm actually worried that they might outgrow their table!

These girls need to veg for 2 and a half more weeks before I'm ready for the flower room. Gonna be monsters!

In other news, the lemon haze seedlings from royal genetics are awesome. Every single one germinated, but I pulled one due to lack of growth. I have 12 seedlings behind these and they look even better than the VK's!

Their leaves seem to be longer and thinner so I'm expecting a possible sativa dominance. Only time will tell.

I *should* be able to start sexing in 2-3 weeks right before I flower as well. They're feminized seeds but you never know...

i think i was pushing my plants a bit too much. Had them up to 1000 ppm and noticed some slight drooping in a couple plants and my runt, whom i affectionately call little retard was turning slight yellow on the bottom leaves. They're still looking good tho.

I had the exact same issue, a little bit of tip burn at around 1k ppm, seems like VK seedlings are a little sensitive, im really hoping this isnt one of those strians that doesnt like nutes, hard to push 'em.
I also have a "little retard", its leaves are like paisly, all turning to one side and shit, guess i wont take clones off that one, other is a straight indica pheno, short and fat with leaves that look like they could cut you. I fimmed both my dwc seedlings at the 4th grow point and they are getting nice and dense.
Keep me up to speed on your nute reactions, im back down to 300 ppm and no changes in the last couple days.

Week 7 Veg

Hey all, i'm back again with another week of updates. Not a whole lot to tell you. The plants grew from 4 inches to 7 inches this past week. We're still at about 1000 ppm's. My little retard doesn't like it but at this point I can't hold back the other healthy plants. Mine used to do that stupid leaf shit too! I had an oscillating fan on the garden and she was NOT happy. She outgrew that at week 6 I think.

The Lemon haze seedlings are doing really well. I'm noticing some slight yellowing and I have been feeding for the past 5 days with a 300 ppm solution of roots organic. I will be starting grow nutes in 2 days probably. Hoping and expecting the current solution is enough. Two more weeks until big updates about flowering and my permanent ebb and flow table! I will be taking lots of pictures to show everybody how I will be building it.

Oh goodness! those guys are lookin so bushy! I love it, how long you gonna go before flowering or you not setup your flowerimg space yet?

Lemon haze is lookin' nice as well, might hafta pick some of those up!

Alright Welcome back to Wednesday's update! Week 8, The Final week of Veg!

If all goes to plan next Wednesday will be the start of my 12/12 period. I have LOTS to do in the next week lol. I ordered a 600w HPS that should hopefully get here in time. I will also constructing my full size ebb and flow table so that should be fun. Dimensions are going to be 4ft x 5ft x 28in high. I'm *hoping* to use a smaller reservoir, but I'm expecting a 50 gallon rez. After next week I'll be on the home stretch down into harvest hehe. Here are some pics

The VK's are about a foot tall now. I still have the freebie industrial sitting at 14" I need to tie that bitch down.

They're just absolutely covering the flood table now lol. I love it

The Lemon Haze seedlings are doing alright. There's great new growth on them, but I obviously still haven't gotten the intricacies of seedlings down yet as they had a rough week.

The seedling in the bottom left is huge! I think there were some phosphorus deficiencies, hence the blotchiness of the leaves. All in all, these seedlings were better than the VK's but I still had difficulty. I think the worst is over!

Love it!

Those VKs look so healthy and are retaining they're uniformity well. That really speaks for the breeders skill in normalizing the strain. Absolutely can't wait to see flowering pics.

I will post some new pics of mine in a few days, both have been topped and are branchy as hell, about 9 inches tall and looking like little cabbages!

Hey everybody! Man I worked my ass off today. I spent from 8 this morning until 9 tonight working on the room lol. I snapped some pictures along the way to show you my progress. My ebb and flow table is drying with 2 coats of truck bed liner and watertight sealer. Tomorrow I have to drill my fill and drain holes and attach the sides. I'm also halfway finished with separating my space into two different rooms. I plan to flower on Wednesday so I can't have any light leaks. Everything is going really well! Nosy neighbors making me paranoid but that's it! lol

Here is some lst getting a wicked curve on my girls. I have a nice even canopy now.

This is the beginning of moving the table into place.

This is a picture of my reservoir and most of the equipment necessary for the plumbing part of the table.

Here is a look at the table without the sides. Still coming together!

This is the frame of my panda film wall. I think I have about half of it covered since taking that photo.

Here is another look at the frame

And you know as much as I do now! For some strange reason I'm having trouble with my ghetto reservoir. It leaked all over the floorrr today. That thing needs a serious solution and I think it has to wait another 4 weeks...

Hell yea prof! I'm interested in your grow too. I love that we're doing the same strain. I'll see you over there. Ok I have a LOT to update so i'll break it up into two posts. This first post is detailing how I completed my table! the final dimensions are 5 ft x 4 ft and it floods 3 inches high. My reservoir is 40 gallons and I'm gonna flood 3 times a day in flower. Flooding takes about 25 minutes total.

This is a detailed shot of my drain fittings

This is before I sealed the wood. I ended up having to put in plastic, but i'm happy I made the wood water resistant so it lasts longer.

I caulked the edges and took this photo right before I put the plastic in.

And this is the finished table! I decided to do a hybrid style nft technique with the panda film. The benefits (i hope) are twofold. One, the roots will be able to grow out of the netpots into the table, and two, it will decrease my evaporation and keep my humidity low. Either way, I love how clean the setup is!

I'm currently inducing flowering by removing the lights for 36 hours. I actually haven't installed the 600 hps yet as you can see. I plan to do that first thing tomorrow morning.

I just set up my reservoir, the roughtote is doing ok as my res, but the sides bend a lot when I take the top off and i may have to do something about that. My current res is 1300 ppm bloom feed.

And this is my second update! My VK's are flowering in the main room. Well not yet, but soon hopefully! and I began my second generation. Cloning!

This is how I began...

And this is how it looks finished!

I took 5 clones from my 4 strongest plants because I didn't think my two mothers were developed enough to handle 10 from each. I have 20 clones, I'll be happy if 10 survive since this is my first attempt.

This is a final clone pic in the propagator under the fluorescent.

And finally, pics of my VK mothers and my transplanted Lemon Haze! I'm really excited about this strain. The largest seedlings are still exhibiting nutrient deficiencies, which i'm not happy about but it also tells me these are heavy feeders. I can really push their ppm's. I transplanted into an 800 ppm grow nutrient feed. I could probably bump up to 1000 with these girls.

Unfortunately I don't have a light for my mothers yet, so I'm hoping they can hang out like that for 2-4 weeks. If I see lots of stretching, I'll go buy one early.

Here is a closeup of the Lemon Haze. Man, I can't wait for these. I really love sativa high's

I had to start LST already because they really shoot up. They're not nearly as bushy as the kush plants. I'm going to have to train them.

And that's it! I've gone without sleep and basically worked 16+ hours a day for a week, but I'm finished! Unfortunately, i'm gonna have to do it again in 4 more weeks...lol. Stay tuned.

Alright, I guess I'll call this a waiting week. I had some problems of course, but everything seems to be back to normal and I'm in the home course down to harvest! Nothing major needs to be done to my room in order to bring in my first harvest and I feel soooo good about that. Female sex is just now starting to show and the plants have been in 12/12 for about 5 days now. I have my ppm's bumped up to 1300 and my little retard is dropping some fan leaves because of it but fuck her! the other 5 plants are doing great.

and another angle. The silver haze is stretching on me but she likes being tied down like a good girl should.

My new veg room looks awesome, I have *just* enough space for everything but it sure is cramped. I have been lsting my lemon haze as well as some of them are fully twice as tall as my indica freebies of the same age. I had some issues getting their ppm's correct, I am not feeding correctly in the seedling stage. The new growth is looking great and again, i'm thinking i've only delayed them by an additional week just like the previous VK's.

their ppm's are sitting at around 900 currently. They're heavy feeders so I expect to bump it up to 1100 shortly. The vk's would not have been able to handle that this early.

Here is the tallest of the bunch, but since it was the fastest grower is was also the one most affected by my lack of feeding :( :(

My clones seem to be doing alright. Hell, they're still green if that means anything. This was my first attempt at cloning and I don't know if they're out of the danger zone yet. I would love the advice of a more experienced cloner. Is it time to take off the humidity dome and remove the heat mat??

It's been exactly 7 days

and the next week should be showing some definite flowers!
