Pros cons of feminized seeds

Pro : female. Con : nothing i can think of.

I grow regs, cuz they are cheaper and i dont mind sorting them out. Some breeders dont offer fems
Ok so a con would be they’re more expensive. Thank you, that’s why I’m asking. Is it more difficult to stress a feminized seed into male? Curious because I’m growing in a closet, and it may have the slightest light leak. Nothing crazy at all, but it won’t be completely 100% pitch black.

The only con I have experienced from feminized seeds is, the Clones lose their vigour quick, in my experience. But I have not found a feminized plant to keep cloning in The Last 4 years. So far.

The only con I can think of is not being able to make your own seeds. If you have no desire in making your own seeds there’s really no reason you should go with regs since the market is very saturated with quality breeders putting out quality fems.

The only other thing I can think of is that if you want a specific strain some are reg only.

The dark period requires pitch dark no matter what variety of genetics you grow

ya I like regular seeds. Especially right now as I am starting to breed plants to create seeds. Fem seeds, and fem autoflower I have started staying away from as 1) I want male plants I can collect pollen from. 2) autoflower plants, you can’t take clones from to keep a good strain on hand or in perminant veg. 3) having regular seeds helps to keep the bio-diversity alive.

I would say fem seeds are ok for a final project of a strain you are working on as you would want. but for my sake I pretty much only buy regular photo period seeds now.

Do autos still need to be flipped to a 12/12 schedule?

Of course you can make femmed seeds if you have a feminized plant. Look up spraying colloidal silver on even one branch....it makes Male pollen sacks. You can then pollinate the rest of the plant and you then get feminized seeds.
