Protekt silica additive okay with supersoil ?

Just had what may be one of those d'oh moments-and need advice of experts. Couldn't find w search, and only my second grow (have a post in the "is my plant ready" thread in Harvesting. I guess since I'm 50-60 days into flowering it obviously didn't completely kill my plants.

I've been adding the dyna gro pro tekt (it's a silica additive) to all my water, and I'm running two different grows - one supersoil (4 plants), the other dynagro 9-3-6 in peat moss/perlite/vermic. media (5 feminized bean plants). Just struck me that in the much research I did I read chems can kill the bio matrix thingy I'm supposed to have cultivated during the 30 day cook etc. A lot of misinfo is out there among the good stuff that got me this far.

So, does the silica fuck it up ?

A little silica is just fine. I wouldn't use it EVERY watering, but I doubt it will cause any problems.

Why would you need silica with soil anyway? High temps or something???

I have always used ProTekt , even during my organic grows but only a few times each cycle and never after week 4 of flower. It helps me since I run high temps in my bloom tent but found best taste if not used in late flower. Good luck.

Helps with heat stress and stress from my rough training style. Lol. Also my stems are much sturdier when I use protekt vs not using it. In my opinion.

if you use carbo-loads, silica is a must. Do a side by side and you'll be amazed!
always mix the protekt in the water first, because of the way it reacts with base nutes
once it dilutes into the water, you can add base nutes

i was supercropping today and broke a stem on accident, and just decided to leave it and hope it heals lol

Silica is actually something that does something in soil. Hydro I have no clue.

Put silica in soil-based waterings half strength or so every time. I'm pretty sure but not positive it gives me beefier, tougher stems.

Call me a fool or whatever but I am pretty sure I've seen a difference in plant strength using it.

Smokesgreen, the replies here were stuff I read elsewhere too, so I tried it out (small bottle bought on amazon) w good results, and kept it as part of my routine. Sometimes I got to mid 80s in summer, but more than the heat it was for reported slightly thicker stems and better resistance to afflictions. I'm a newbie but my untrained eye thought my plants looked better with it. But forgot to leave it out for my supersoil grow (or at least a side-by-side test crop).

Yeah I use cyco silica in my hempys...I just always thought it was a hydro additive.

Try Nugbuckets Horsetail Tea recipe for an organic (and much cheeper) silica. Can be used as a spray or drench.
Significant improvement in stem strength, not only for holding up buds, but for making it harder for pests to eat(if you have any).
Not to mention, as long as you use HT in every foliar spray, and use it once a week, you'll never have any mold or PM problems again.

Yessssss!!

this is super effective and cheap. Ive never seen a pest infestation terminated so fast. Don't go for the brand names, keep it organic and you shouldn't have to worry about a thing ;D
