Protien shakes for plant food?

So i was at the grow shop getting some cal-mag, fulvex, and some botanicare vitamino which they didnt have.

i asked my gf if she had any b-vitamins, b-1 in particular. She said no, but asked me if i could use the protien powder mix under the sink.

I went and got it out and looked at the ingredients and low and behold b-1, amino acids and plethora of other vitamins.

What do you guys think of using this instead of vitamino? i would have to figure out proper dosage but its esentailly just vitamins and amino acids.20190801_161223.jpg 20190801_161238.jpg

Hmm, figuring out a concentration would be the key at using it.

Thing is, isn't that a pricey item?

I take it the list is in a single serving?

Sodium level caught my eye! Not kosher there...You could be looking at several problems down the road with that.

Next thing is,,,Quit using any specific vitamin or Amino formula years and years ago.....You just don't need it. You can get those in other ways and better for the plant....
Kelp in any form for soil, in an extract for hydro...

I would be more interested in the source for the NPK and the other things in it.. How available in that form to the plant? How readily will organics (in soil) break that form down or is it a chelate?

Looking at the 3 things that was on your list to buy.. How about just BIO AG FUL HUMIX and a Kelp extract? Cheaper and last longer..... You don't have to use much or often either....

i love the bio-ag Cyto Plus. all that in one powder that mixes up nicely for hydro. 0.5 g/gal so it's cheap too.

Whey is pretty expensive, even in bulk.
I don't imagine it would have a great odor, after awhile, either.

I don't think I would try this... But, uh... for science?

i grow in soil,I do use an kelp extract, i use botanicare seaplex, along with several other things. I use Urb Natural as a source of humic acids and beneficial bacteria, soul infinity for its yucca content, fulvex( fulvic acid), cal-mag, pro-tekt (silica), molasses (simple sugars) d.t.e. rose&flower mix and fishbone meal. I also make a compost tea with these ingredients with worm castings and compost. I like to add the amino acids because ive heard it increases yields and also read the same thing about b-1. upon further review im seeing a lot of articles saying that b-1 for plants is a myth.

I can buy this powder with foodstamps so its basically free. The aminos is what id really be after but you are probably right about the sodium content. Basically salt right? I could see that being a problem.

Do you think im doing too much? Im new to soil so ive got these hydroponic tactics still lingering in my habits. I want to go big but im learning that less is more with soil.

Look into spirulina .... old grower ingredient for biomass bacteria and liquid chlorophyll too.
What about wheatgrass powder? I have a container of that, that I don’t use. It has live enzymes, aminos and a shit ton of vitamins and minerals. Couldn’t I use wheatgrass powder like an enzyme tea?
