How long has it been a battle between Republicans and Democrats? A pretty long time (100+ years). I am sure only one side is corrupt and the power struggle hasn't led to corruption on all sides. To assume only one side is corrupt, plays favors, or helps themselves secure more power/influence.... sounds naïve. Trump was the worst and has made the climate even worse. Trump needed go, we can all agree. Does that make all Republicans evil or Democrats less corrupt just because Trump was in office? We need to get off this "Republicans are evil, racist, and the ultimate example of corruption!"

It may sound naive, but that is only because it is void of the post ww2 civil rights movements.
Only one party has been representing all 100% of the American people, and it has been a long slog to get to this point. With so many 'factions' the cohesion that the Wealthy White Heterosexual Male Only agenda (that represented all power in our nation since it's founding) enjoy is why they can be corrupt. They only need to sit back and pick off Democrats (the people representing all 100% of our people) and they win.
Time and again the Democrats have proven that they will quickly give the boot to members of the political party that are caught in scandals, while the Republicans endorse child molestors like Roy Moore and criminals like Trump, while trying to suppress the voters in our minority communities so they can keep power.
It is naive to think the 'both sides' nonsense is legitimate.
But just because it is naive, doesn't make it realistic with the scams that the Republicans have been pulling since they switched to the Southern Strategy after losing the civil rights movement.

The parties are still run by rich white guys, but now include rich white women as well. Have you not seen politics happen in the workplace before? It is a human nature thing not party line. They do it, same as everyone who isn't a politician does it to get ahead in their workplace. I find it hard to believe an institution as old as our political parties would be clean. Republicans are worse for sure but at this point it is both sides not one side.
