Pruning During Flowering

I was wandering if anyone could shed some light on me (no pun intended) about pruning plants during flowering? My girls are inside a closet and have grown many branches and leaves. The bottom part of the plants aren't receiving much light because a canopy has grown blocking light from getting to the bottom. The plants have started to develop the white hairs and I was wandering if I would stress my girls out if i cut off some of the big fan leaves to help more light get to the plants? Thanks for the help

Just don't go cut crazy and be sure to leave the leaves on the buds if your cutting fans. You might see some slowing depending on strain.

You could also do some "training". Tie or bend branches to expose other areas to light.

If those most bottom branches are gonna b in the dark the whole grow you can cut those off. It'll promote top growth where the light is strongest! like said above don't go crazy but there more like nutrient suckers when there down low out of the light. I usually don't touch my plants after week two, or once it's hit full on flower production. I try not too take anymore off so it can do its work and finish its cycle. I will occasionally in late bloom remove a leaf or two but I first try to bend it out of the way.

Concentrate on the little puny stuff that is hidden and work your way up to your first good limb system. Then tie them or gently bend the remaining limbs with flowers. Just be careful you don't snap them off. This can happen if you have low humidity as I do inside.

You wanna end up with something like this, taller if you have the room.

Did it earlier today as a matter of fact. I have the same set up as far as the tent/closet thing goes. And I do it to help light reach some of the lower Buds. As was said before don't go crazy. I also like to concentrate my pruning to the center of the canopy the other leaves are of no real help. You want that light to almost be able to shine through the plant. Might I also suggest selective harvesting to help the lower bud development, if u have the room. Good Luck and Happy Smoking. :bigjoint:bongsmilie

it is ok to prun one week into flowering i wouldn't prun later than that, also if you want to prun the bottom, prun the lower branches that won't mature so that the energy goes to your bigger colas, and leave the fans alone..

Trimming is best when done gradually, take a few leaves every few days to reduce shock to the plant. Start with the leaves at the bottom that get least light.
