Yo im a first time grower but I love finding solutions for stuff like this, so how about if instead of getting an expensive pump just raise the plants up and knock a drain hole in the saucer and let it just drain itself out into a bucket or something then just empty the bucket? - If you are determined to do it with pumps though your going to need a non submersible pump (because otherwise you'll need to have it totally submerged and I doubt you'll be able to do that in your saucers). I would get some tubing and attach one end to the pump and plug the other with something (blu-tac works fine for me but aquatic silicone is the sort of A grade thing for water tightness and durability so its not a bad thing to have around if your messing with pumps) Then id probably poke little holes along the tubing making sure that they will all be touching the saucer when you lay it down. Then just lay the tubing around the plant pots on top of the saucer with the holes facing down and give it a go. As I said though it'd be much easier/cheaper to just raise your plants on some kind of small shelf or anything really and just stick a little drain hole in the saucer and put something to collect the water in. I should also mention that a small angle (1 in 12) will mean the water will all run to one side and stop you from leaving any little puddles of water for bacteria to grow in. That'll be a little difficult to actually get seeing as putting your plants on a slope however small it is just seems a bit sketchy and I dunno how much weight your dealing with if your using soil in the pots so maybe thats a bit too much. Before you go out looking for a pump though you need to measure the distance from your plants to your sink and also the height of the sink. The pump should tell you how high up it is capable of pumping water for instance mine is good for about 45cm (I grow with drip feeders) and it was about £10 (15-20$?) The higher up it pumps water the more expensive it'll probably be so make sure you know what you need before you go to the shop and come back with a pump thats twice as expensive as it needed to be, that being said you don't want to cheap out and find out that the water runs back down because its not powerful enough. Hope this helps man good luck with your grow!

Put a dish towel or other thin towel between the pot and the saucer. The overflow will wick into the towel and then evaporate. No harm, no foul.

Good luck, BigSteve.

I second the wet dry vac. most pumps are water cooled so going from plant to plant without shuting it off each time will be bad for it. you can run a vacume all day n not have to worry bout it.
