Purple curling down seedling leaves (2-3 Weeks old)

Hey guys,

So I recently started to notice my seedlings leaves turning purple on the edges. I read that it could be related to a phosphorus deficiency, ph lockout leading to the deficiency and or maybe the roots were getting too cold as I had a pretty large fan blowing on them.

I haven’t gotten myself a micrometer or PPM meteryet and probably should ASAP but I’m just wondering how to go about correcting what’s going on. I cannot tell where the root cause of the purple color is coming from and also the growth of the plants has been very slow for the last 1-2 weeks after sprouting. The stems are also red, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with the main concern just through id throw it in since I noticed it.

I bought distilled water as I was going to flush my plants out with it and give them a small feeding of Floranova after.

I have them about 24 inches away from a 600w LED light.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Did you use old used soil? They are already nutrient deficient. Red stems means magnesium deficiency. Do yourself a favor and buy good potting soil next time. Good luck.

Is that coco Perlite? If so it needs to be watered. It should always be moist, never dry (like your photo) on top like that. Water with 1/4 strength nute's till runoff every day. They should be twice to three times that size for being that old.

Hey my friend thanks for the reply. I am using Coco Coir and perlite. I gave them one feeding of nutrients (Floranova Grow) at a very small dose a few days ago and as far as I could see it had little to no effect. So if they are Mag deficient based off of the red stems, do you have any idea about the purple splotchiness on the leaves? I’m wondering if my PH is out of wack and they are being locked out.

Yep Coco, I have been watering it quite often as soon as I see that underneath the top layer has dried a little bit. The uptake of water has been slow the last few days. I will have to try watering/feeding her today until a little runoff and see if that cures it. Would you recommend flushing them out before feeding or just feed with a good amount of run off?

If you flush you will strip the coco of nute's. But coco is baisically hydro that looks like soil. So it should always be moist. And always have nute's. It's "Almost" impossible to over water as long as you have the drainage.

Looks like PH is off and/or lack of nutrients in your medium. If its not PH issue they look hungry.

My 3 week old from sprout plants. I’m assuming you’re a new grower.. I wouldn’t start plants in coco when you first start growing. There is so much that you have to do to the medium to make it suitable for cannabis. Yes you can throw it in and water it but the plant won’t do anything. You need to mix in fertilizer, compost, EWC just to give the plant some nutrients. Of course if you wanted to go synthetic route, you can always use bottles nutes you just mix with your water.

Alright makes sense, I fed them until They had some drainage out of the bottom now I’m just hoping they start taking it in!

Just wanted to thank everyone for the input! My plants have really recovered and made great growth over the last few days. I wanted to share a few pictures of where they're at now and get some more input on the brown curling down tips of the leaves seen in the photos. It could be nutrient burn but I checked the ppm of my Floranova grow mixture and it was only at/around 350 ppm which doesn't seem too high, maybe I'm still not giving them enough? Thanks!
