The new gals are doing great.
Been feeding em with a tea mix of neem, kelp, alfalfa, bat guano and ewc.

The first batch is in jars curing now.
#1 had a distinct turpentine smell for the first few days in the jar. That smell has evolved to be a bit Durban-esque now. Hoping some of the original smell remains locked inside the nugs.

#2 Smelled exactly like gasoline for the first few days in the jar. That's evolved to smell exactly like the diesel I remember getting in the late aughts. I tested some crumbs from the bottom of the jar. The flavor was great, but way different than expected. Mainly perfume on the exhale. Curious to see how this evolves.

#4 doesn't smell quite as strong as the first two, but it's got a great sugary, skunky smell.
A tester from this tastes similar to #2.

#5 doesn't really have a strong or distinct smell. This might be from the nute burn though.

#6 is much like #5. I could tell by looking at the rootball that she her roots took a beating. She also dried a lot faster than the others. The high from this one is fantastic though. A nice up, sativa type. I'm gonna run her with the winner of this round next. She was definitely the most sensitive plant, and needed different treatment than the rest.

Sorry for the potato quality of the bud shots....

#1: The flavor is straight black pepper. The smell is sweet and savory. Relatively bland. Effects are a good 50-50 mix. I'm not keeping this one around.

#2: This one has good flavor. Sorta chemy, perfume. Not as strong as #4. Sweet Skunk on the nose. I love the structure of this one. She trains well staying busy and compact. She seems to be the easiest to grow. Effects are a bit more on the indica side, but still a good mix. I might keep her around.

#4. This one's the keeper for sure. She's got a great perfume forward taste. Sweet sugary skunky diesle smell in the jar. The flowers have awesome color. the calyxes are lime green under a heavy coating of trics, making them apear light green, with purple sugar leaves. Unfortunately, she's one of the harder ones to grow, and she grows lanky. She starts off a bit slow, but then picks up later in veg. Not a lot of stretch. The flavor, smell, and looks make the challenge easy to live with though. I cant wait to see what she's like once I've got her dialed.

#5. This one looks the best by far. super frosty. Unfortunately, there's just no flavor and not much for smell.
20211224_204624.jpg

#6. This one's got potential. She was the hardest to grow. As a result, the smell really isn't there and the flavor is lightly chemy. The effect is more on the sativa side. She's definitely worth looking into more.

Here's the current situation. Yellow is #4, Orange is #2, and Brown is #1. I've been top feeding only this round. I didn't go heavy enough before the flip, so they suffered some N deficiency. The new growth is looking nice and green again though. They're exactly 3 weeks from the flip now, and have stopped stretching. I tucked for the first two weeks. They didn't seem to stretch much after that.

Here's the new space. It's 2'x4' x 2.5' tall. Light is a custom made strip LED rig, with a 185W driver. These are #2, #4, #6. Not sure if these will be moms, or if I'll run them in this next round.

I like what you’ve got going on here.
I too have a 2x4 to work with.
Mine at 5ft tall I thought was low.

In a space so low, what is the led dimmed down to?

It's probably dimmed down to 100w. I'm too lazy to check. I just adjusted a bit after an initial burn. The strips run pretty cool. Your space is the same height as my flowering tent. The ScrOG should work well for you too.

Well, I got super busy and didn't take any flower pictures of the last run. Here's round three waiting to go in the main tent, as soon as the last round is done drying.

I'm trying something different this time. I'm doing a single plant of #4 in a 12 gallon tote. The soil is pretty much Coot's mix with some additional amendments. This is one of the clones from the first run that I've been super cropping the whole time. She's been in this tote for about three weeks now. In the past few days she's really started to show explosive growth.

The two branches sticking up are going to be clones.

After a 3 month cure, the #4 is tasting awesome. The flavor and smells are complex. The flavor has turned into a chemmy, anise, sweet, floral, with a light background funk. The effects are very well balanced. I can't wait to see what she can do once I dial it in.

Today I released the bush! I pulled out all the stakes (over 50) to let her get some vertical growth as well as get some space opened up underneath.

The last batch is drying nice and slow, so I hope to be putting this girl in the flower/drying tent sometime late this coming week.

I've got three cuts rooting now. I'm also sprouting a bean I found In the first batch of #4.

I'm really happy with how the soil is doing this round. Aside from being a little hot, the plant is loving it. I've been almost just water since the start. She got her second dose of tea ever just a few days ago. I think I'll switch to only giving heavy tea a few times throughout the grow if I don't see any deficiencies. I'm thinking I'll probably top dress when I move her to the flower tent. This pheno seems to eat a bunch. The last two runs she's had the worst deficiency in early flower. Last run, I didn't really get it under control.

I mixed up a new batch of soil last weekend too. My base I'd a mix of 3 different spent soils; roots, paonia, and some from home depot that has small chunks of wood mulch.

Base Mix
60% base
20% Pioneer Batch 64
20% ewc

Amendments ( per 2 cu. Ft.)
-MontanaGrow Silicon Dioxide - 0.1kg
-Fish Bone Meal - 4 cups
-Alfalfa - 2 cups
-Kelp -1 cup
-Neem - 0.5 cup
-Sulfate of Potash - 0.5 Cup
-Crab Meal - 1 cup
-Langbienite - 1.5 tbsp
-Canadian Bat Guano - 1 cup
-Seabird Guano - 1/3 cup

I realised later that my container is not quite 2 cu ft. So I think I'll cut it with 50/50 batch 64 and compost, to bring it to the correct volume. The batch 64 is something I picked up on the grow shops recommendation. It's mostly coco and rice hulls. It's also got bio char, rock dust, and azomite.

I'm thinking I'll go no till starting next round. My schedule is getting busy, and the bigger containers alone are appealing. Thinking about blu mat too.

Got the new girl moved into the flower tent. She's still got a few more weeks to beg though. I'm still not sure if I'll SCrOG this round or not. I'm gonna let the tent fill before the flip though. She doesn't really stretch much.

Well, I flipped her into flower last night. I know I said I'd wait until she filled the tent, but I decided to leave some room in case she does stretch this time. I haven't done a very good job keeping up with her feeding the last two times in the early weeks of flower, so I'm not sure I know how much she actually stretches. If she doesn't fill it up, I've got a few things I'd like to test in the corners. Im not gonna scrog this one. as busy as I am, I need a slightly lower maintenance method.

I've started feeding malted barley and aloe teas about once a week too. She seems to like it. Had some rust spots popping up on the older fan leaves, so I hit her with some tea with some Montana grow silica, crab meal, langbeneite, and some other stuff. This was followed by another watering with mbp/aloe tea with some organic cal mag. Also top dressed with a diverse, but light mix of amendments, including guanos and malted barley powder. That seems to be working.

Trying hard to make sure this round shows her true potential. Of course that mostly means knowing when to leave her alone. The last round went pretty poorly, and she still turned out pretty great. I got super busy with other things, and the grow suffered. I was having temp issues, and had my lights on at night, so I didn't have a lot of time to notice or deal with the problem.

This is probably the last round for her for a little bit. Got some new stuff I wanna try.

Oh man, I'm so happy I came to my senses and didn't wait until the tent was full to flip. She's grown quite a bit in the past week.

I've been foliar feeding a light nutrient tea w/ call mag. That,in addition to everything else seems to have cleared up my problems. Been doing a light top dress every two weeks for the past 6 weeks. Seems to be working well. Ill probably do one more of the same before switching up the mix.

I'm going to continue to foliar through the stretch. Nothing heavy, just fulvic, silica, kelp, sst, aloe, coconut h20, maybe some other stuff.

I feel like I'm getting the hang of watering living soil. I'm doing 1 gallon every other day, sometimes a h as lf gallon a day instead. I can definitely see the benefit of automated watering in this setup. Im torn between blumats or SIP.

I'm thinking I'm gonna run the sfv and tahoe og side by side this next round. I'd love to do one with the ghost as well, if I can get ahold of a cut.

Well, she’s at the end of week 2 since the flip. She’s happy as ever, and stretching nicely.
Last weekend, I made a big batch of concentrated tea with coconut water, aloe and fresh ground malted barley powder. I poured it into an ice cube tray and froze it. It’s been great to have it on-hand whenever I need it. I’m in the process of doing the same thing with corn SST. I’ve watered her with that twice this week. I’ve done a few foliar feeds with it as well, with some fulvic, silica, and a drop of dr. Bronner’s peppermint mixed in. She really seems to like it.

She’s gonna get a decent defoliation in the morning. I probably should have pruned a bit before the flip. She’s dense as hell. Definitely at risk of air flow issues down the road. I usually exfoliate a lot more, but I’m not sure I believe in that anymore. I’ll use everything to make some FPJ. I’ve got a batch of LABS finishing now.

Here she is, going into week 4. Happiest she's been in this stage of flower.
Getting foliars and watering with sst, coconut h2o, kelp, aloe, silica, and fulvic. I'm done foliar feeding now. Gonna top dress a few more times probably. Maybe start feeding teas once a week or something.
