Not luck....The plant will do fine with some slight deficiencies but it wont grow and produce to its FULL potential. I am not going to disagree with a growing legend like Jorge and all the guys he works with according to him...MOST of the time purple stems are due to a deficiency of N, Mag, or even sulfur. Nitrogen being the most likely and sulfur being the least. Also like I said from personal experience I have noticed that when my plants are needing a feeding the stems start to get a little bit of purple along with other signs of them needing a good feeding.
Im almost positive the whole Indica thing is NOT right. Besides the only part of a plant that should be purple (and this is on actual purple strains) are the buds NOT the stems, Also leaves on most strains can turn purple when the air is cold enough I believe it has to get down into the 60's for this to happen.
WRONG....did you not read everything I wrote....i am brand new to this growing stuff and after my stems went purple i looked all over the net and have come to the conclusion that they turn purple when the flowering starts. mine did
thank you very much...im tired off all these ill informed ignorant people trying to act like they know what they are talking about.
well if your stems are a little purple during flowering I would guess it is because your plants are not getting as much N as they did during the veg stage because you are giving them flowering ferts. A slight deficiency shouldn't really hurt anything to much at this stage as long as your leaves look nice and green usually you will notice some signs of deficiencies a week or even two before harvest because your plants are putting so much energy into budding.sorry, i did read bits and pieces but i was stoned when i replied
dont know if it was covered but i will ask anyway.........
i have purple stems but have given mine nitrogen as they had started to get yello leaves, what happens now? will they grow green now? and what does a nitrogen deficiency do to the bud as everywhere i have read it doesnt seem to affect it at all. i am a few weeks away from harvest so i dont want to make any mistakes at this stage. if the leaves are ok now but the stems are still purple, what should i do?
thanks in advance :thumb:
