Push through scrubber or pull through?

Hello guys I am wondering about whether I should be pushing air through the scrubber. I am using a Nutone 110cfm centrifugal inline fan, and a a scrubber that the hydro shop guy called the Gremlin and said it was rated for "around" 95cfm. Now I have them together and as you can imagine the fan has just enough power to push through and keep temps in check (80F). I already know that if I take the dust cover off that it will vent a lot better but I was thinking that the air might pass though too fast and not be filtered enough causing odor. So that brings me to this point were I am wondering if I should switch to a pull through action or just remover the cotton dust guard?

you want t opull the air through the scrubber. if you sit there and think about it it make sense. if you are pushing air not all the air will get through. leads to stagnant air. not enough to hurt anything though. if you pull it through, all air goes through. just some food for though. remember we educate not discriminate.

Yeah thats what I was thinking... But what about removing the dust cover, or maybe getting something easier to pull through? Thanks a lot for the help fellas and have a good day.

both are effective. in my walk I have found out that the pulling works better tahn the pushing. that is why we are here though to learn from others mistakes and find new and better was to complete the same task; growing the best tree that we can.

with out the dust guard the filter will not last long.I found that the closer you have the exhaust to the light the cooler the room will run just for thought hope this helps

Hey thanks for asking and answering this question - I was also trying to figure that out.

I am going to build my own scrubber - the one shown here:

Ryoko Builds a DIY Activated Carbon Filter - 30 Minutes, $30 Dollars - The Garden's Cure

I was thinking about modifying it a bit by adding activated charcoal in the screen cylinder in addition to the carbon filter wrapped around the outside. I bought a 300 cfm duct fan to pull the air thru the filter. Do you guys think it is a good idea to add the loose charcoal?

Hey thanks for that link. Do you think it could be modified to be installed inline? I want to vent the scrubbed air up my chimney. If so - any ideas how to modify would be greatly appreciated!

awhile ago i put an induction fan on my scruuber and it worked fine. i didn't need to pull alot of air around 100 cubic foot total area. didn't need the nest fan. here are some pics from tjhe scrubber and one with the inline attached.
