The best would be some of the diffusers out there but they are very expensive. I get 12 inch stones from Meijer for $3. They are the kind that is all stone and not stone inlaid in plastic. I always have extras around and I check them often and switch them out if they aren't producing well. I use new ones to begin each grow.

The size of the netpots will make no difference. The action of the bubbles can still be controlled with the methods at the beginning of the thread.

No.. It is not the best deal.

You can get the same brand (Sunleaves) with a significantly more powerful pump (950 instead of 600) at a slightly lower price ($35 instead of $37) here:

That is more pump for the money. I'd like to try one. Depending on the size of the res though, it might be too much. It's hard but it is possible to get too much bubble action. This pump would be great for a multi bucket setup. Looks like it would drive 2 large stones each in 3 buckets very well. Thanks for the link!

You're welcome

As for the power of it. I dont think its too strong. the pump comes with a six-outlet air divider, but that can easily be reduced with a simple DIY plug. I have it in a 4'x4' DWC with 6 of these air "stones" (more like air tubes) and its just perfect. These things are great IMO, you can bend them into whatever shape/position you need them to be in. And they are pretty affordable too ($4-$7 each depending on the length).

Permeable Flexible Air Stones are a great way to aerate your growing system. The flexible stones bend into any shape you need to deliver air where you need it most, they also create less back pressure than traditional air stones, which reduces damage to your pump.

Anyhow, thanks for your many great and helpful posts.

I really like how to talk about how the bubble work to feed the plants as well as put lots of air in the water.
thanks for the great info

i don't have the sunleaves brand but it looks to be the same thing wish i had found that site for mine i spent $70 with s&h. anyways i've found that the best way to keep it quiet is to lay it on it's side with the exaust port on it facing up. this stops the rattling sound it makes then all ur left with is a minor humming.

Is there a measurement of the amount of air you recommend? Like so many CFM or GPH to X amount of gallons of a reservoir?

When it comes to anything I prefer to have more than enough. My res has six gallong of water and three 12 inch airstones and I'm using a 600 gph pump which is more than enough. It's hard to go by specs though. The way to know if you have enough pump is whether you have enough bubble action and you determine that with the method in the OP.

Very informative. I just pulled my pump out of my Bubbleponics as it was generating to much heat. Roots are already in the water.

Peace - :peace:

That is why I tell people not to mess with the water pump
I would rather grow DWC and have colder water temps than bubbleponics with warm water temps
The water pump is absolutely unnecessary

Just get a powerful air pump, it will do you much better than the crappy air and water pump I see people using in their bubbleponics systems

Hi Illegal Smile
Thank you for a thread that explained it well! I've tried a couple set-ups, and your information is valuable in understanding the dynamics. I'm messing with my own variety of the set up, and your post is helpful.

I'm in the process of setting up my new grow room and found this very interesting, as I've been all over town to try to find the perfect rubbermaid/sterilite container. I'm trying to do 1 res, but have 4 big plants. Is there a correct number of gallons per plant, or is like 2-3 gallons a plant more than adequate. I don't feel like dealing with 30 gallons of water every week. And by the way, I just picked up an air pump from wal-mart that states it is good for 30-60 gallons of water for $25
