Putting Dispensary Clones Outdoors?

Im going to buy some clones from the dispensary & am concerned about them going from 24 hour of light to 14/10.

I read somewhere that by putting them into 24 hours of darkness before putting them outside will prevent early flowering.

Will that work?
Any good ideas?

I'm not 100% sure about them going into flowering but I know it's never good to go from artificial light to direct sunlight for stress reasons. My best guess would be to start them outdoors in the shade and gradually work them over from there.

I've done this in the past. They'll probably flower because going from 24/0 to 14/10 is a big change. Even with 24 hours of dark I don't think that will solve that. I'd put them under lights for a week of 19/5 and then 15/9 for another week. This should get them used to less light without them going to flower. Also putting them directly into the sun after that will cause stress. I've done it in the past and they lived fine but all of their older growth leaves died because they couldn't handle the power of the sun light. This didn't really matter because new growth took over and they turned out just fine. The newer growth leaves never died either. They could handle the change better.

I dont have any HPS lighting. My only option would be to put them in a spare bedroom and leave all the lights on inside of it. Would that work? I would leave them inside my outdoor greenhouse during the day & then bring them inside for the extra light time.

That might work. In some green houses to stop flowering in the winter months they'll run lights in the middle of the night for 5-10 minutes and this will reset the plants from wanting to flower.

I used a small florescent light (a 2 foot, two tube t5) on a timer in my laundry room to control my plants day length. I had it hooked up to a timer running 18/6, then dropped them 17/7 for a week, then 16/8 for a week, etc. until I was pretty close to the natural day length.

During that time I would bring my plants outside in the morning to enjoy the sun, then I would put them back inside in the evening.

I imagine you could do the same thing with a cheap CFL light bulb. I've also seen people hang a small CFL light over their plant outside at night.

They wont flower I bought some and put them out the same day in my Greenhouse. If you are getting 14 hours of light now just keep them in the shade. Trust me on this transplant them and throw them in the shade in your greenhouse. keepem green dirrtyd

3 days of 14/10. first 10-12 hours in the shade or in a window and last 2 hours under some lights

Ask thes guys who are commenting who has a greenhouse. I bet the majority dont. Good Luck Hope you dont listen too many of these first timers. You're right I don't have a green house. He also never stated he had one until later. None the less I've put clones out for year now and going from 24/0 to 14/10 can make some strains go into flower. I always try to change my light schedule close to what they will get once they are moved out doors. I also don't worry about "hardening" my clones. I just put them out in their spots and after a few days they are perfectly fine and happily growing into big bushes. I'll also intentionally flower plants outside as well so I can have outdoor harvests all summer long. This also allows me to have an early harvest before we get an intense marine layer in June that can also cause some plants to think it is time to go into flowering early. Plants grown from seeds will handle it better than clones from my experience.

I don't claim to be an expert but I have been growing on my own outdoors for years and worked on other grows for years before that. I may be new to these forums but I am not new to growing outdoors.

Since you wan to go there I will tell I have kids your age . I have forgot more than you know. Believe that I have been growing year round for years here in the Bay so tell me something new. I have clones out now so for your area no good mine it is. GL I'm not asking questions on here.

you could bring them inside at night, or just put a light in the greenhouse for a couple hours a night if your woried they will flower right away. as far as the hps thing, i dont think it takes much light to interupt their night cycle. if your worried about shocking the plants from going from a clone tray to outdoors, i dont think thats as much of an issue with a greenhouse.

just from my own experience i always found putting them outside with some shade has usually made my clones flower, by that i mean 2' "teens".. i used the shade this spring for a nice bumper crop.
but back to your question i had a few others i would take inside before sunset with some fluorescent light and good ventilation for a few hours to simulate 16 or 18 hr light and put them back outside at first direct light and they kept vegging just fine.

iv bought clones last year about this time and i put them in my greenhouse in big pots, my greenhouse is under my orange, peach, apricots and cherry trees so ugh it gets not so much sunlight mainly in the morning. BUT when those fuckers get big" they go into full sunshine plot and handle hot temps very well. they never flowered either prolly cause its growing season right now. if its a little guy transplant in something bigger and let it chill out some place shady/sunny, it will get big and will want more sunlight..

Those who don't have greenhouses i got 3 Lol
