Ladies and gentlemen, good evening! First forum post here. I live in the mitten, and am planning to start an indoor grow. Something simple, nothing crazy, to get my feet wet. I have been around for a bit, and have definitely grown to appreciate high quality over price, quantity, or anything else. At this point I am planning on putting some TLC into a 4-5 plant small tent operation. I've got most all of my checklist complete as far as: equipment I am going to use, setup, space needed, nutes, #'s, etc. BUT, the one, the biggest, the mostest ridiculous problem I am having thus far is deciding what kind of lights to use!!! It's driving me insane, and I can't quite decide what to do.
I've done a fair bit of research, and talking to other people to get a nice array of opinions as well as options/ideas. I really was leaning towards using an LED light because of the power savings, heat sig, life, and a lot of people seem to like them. The LED's are all relatively pricey when looking into the 3w diode units, not the 1w. I could get a complete grow kit with a tent, HPS light, and all for the same or less (much less than some of the LED lights that are $1000 or more). I've read some suggestions to wait on the LED technology until it improves more, and becomes more affordable. To make an already long story shorter; is it worth spending my money on a technology that's undergoing development and constantly changing/improving? Or do I stick with what's proven to work time and time again? I may have already answered my own question, but I would love some input, thanks guys cheers!
