QB96 Elite V2 w/ SSTX heatsink question

Sorry, i don’t.

my ir gun and most of my gear is in storage at the moment, as my grow room gets rewired tomorrow.

I threw a small thermometer on the sink of a single runnin 150w, i’ll post that temp in a few...
@GreeneryBob , after 5-10 mins on top of heatsink, my small digital thermometer is showing 118F, runnin 150w.

Maybe someone with an ir gun, runnin their 96 near 160w, can reply....

what madness with a sstx heatsink, have a homogeneous dissipation, and find out the circuit, I think that with a bigger pcb it would improve even more.

Back to the purpose of this thread. Since these lights work best with 2 for cross lighting has anyone tested using lights set up with different lights added with the 96's?

Was thinking of mixing 4 of them with Cutters new Cree 5050 BR- Ordered 5 of them. They come with 3 channels. I have 2 with 390, 2 with 660, and 1 with 730. I will control 6 channels all dimable with bluefish controller. Was also thinking of trying their Nichia 3030 strip also.
Post setup and performance in a grow, when you get there.

Can you pm me with pics/explanation of bluefish controller wiring? i have one for qb11’s and thinking of using for other supplementals. Thanks

So @robincnn , if i understand you correctly, your message is kinda like a guerrilla recall, correct?
By this i mean, everyone who has purchased a 96(s), can receive free replacement pads, but they would only know it by reading this post, correct? How about contacting all who were shipped 96s before the date you stopped shipping bad pads?
I’ll ask for the ones you guys are making in-house starting in January. What is the difference in usage/performance between the two versions: 3M and Bergquist?
Currently we know orders between #4270 - #4480 were impacted. I am waiting on some more data before i reachout to everyone who could have been impacted by these white pads.
Everyone will get free replacement pads. I am discussing with Stephen how best we can resolve this.
Stephen wanted to go with thermal adhesive option. I wanted a reusable pad so they have higher thermal conductivity and re workable for DIY.
I evaluated several pads but did not do sufficient testing with white pads from TG. I apologize for the inconvenience

White pads were 2.2 W/m-K and leak oil under compression due to poor quality.
We reachout to manufacturer and there is no fix for this. They said go with non silicone option instead.
Oil from these pads is Siloxanes and it is non toxic to best of my knowledge. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4884743/

All other pads work fine
The grey pads we use are 3M156056-ND 1.6 W/m-K
New die cut 3M and Bergquist sometime in Jan 2019 will be 3.0 W/m-K .
Same performance just slightly better thermal conductivity to lower boards temps. Small difference in board temps I will post by test results soon.

Appreciate the update very much!
thank you Robin

As someone running with white pads over flowering plants ill be watching them and following along this issue closely

Just started flowering with 4 of them combined with 6 3000k QB288v2s in a 5x5...also have 4 of the new multicolour mou5 pucks in there. Everything turned down a bit as the 1460 or so possible watts would be a bit much.

A couple days in with the added 96s and everything looks happy so far.

I won't have my 96's hung for a bit. Will wait on replacement pads and going to do do 2 different builds with 96's I bought. I'm Flipping room Saturday. Plants love light and I think you have that one covered with the layout you have, about 65 watts a square, post a pic of lights.

That sounds like a beast. And I thought running 620w of strips in a 2x4 was rockn. LoL.

I just checked my white pad leakage and its stopped after first clean up, as long as it does not affect longevity I think you would be remiss not to run them.... they likey the light cuz

The room that is being flipped is covered with lights that I made LM301B strip build with reds and UV and infrared. Planning on grabbing some clones from buddy to run under the 96s. Here's a pic of the last lights made.
