? I got 2 boards with 800 diodes each.... If each diode is 3w that makes each board 240w? Why then a 600w? Maybe a noob question, but I don't get it.
Diodes are .2 w nominal, .6w max. 3w diodes would make it 2400w max. My suggestion is based on what worked fine for us, but many ways to skin a cat. The reasoning is that 2 heatsinks for 300w operation each costs (where i am) more than getting another board. These boards run fine with no heatsink up to 200w but ideally a little less. 160w is my sweet spot. Also means you get a bit better spread, lower hanging height and lighter fixture

Yeah, aluminium is expensive these days... You should be able to pick some up cheap somewhere tho and perhaps get someone to water-jet CNC it for you. There's a new board out on Alibaba: https://m.alibaba.com/product/60847528837/For-Plant-Grow-Light-QB800-301B.html?spm=a2706.8301176.prew843968.13.b7294d25bQqBlF

What's your opinion on 3000k straight vs blues and reds mixed in with deep red and UV? Those ChilLed boards look sick.... Kinda small tho...

The thermal switching is really nice feature but is the fan itself any good? If using this for cooling boards/heatsink the fan should be on all the time anyway, wouldnt it be better just going for a tried and proven fan. Amazon gear doesnt really have a great track record...

thanks for replies , I will ponder this over as cost is an issue for me after spending most of my coin on a gorilla tent., HLG boards and Canfan 50 and max fan 8 inch system for air scrubbing and that seems cheap way to circulate air around boards/plants
I plan to upgrade when I can afford it so only looking for something cheap for now.

Not sure... It's got raving reviews and the 120mm one is really powerful for such a small fan. I guess the thermal would be to get some control and prevent from overheating. I'm sure you could just use a clip on fan, but I like how these sit flat on the heatsink with rubberized feet. Apparently they are also very silent.

I'm torn on my setup.... I'm doing a sog 40pot and can't decide whether I should do coco in 15x15cm pots (4*10) or if I should just go with a DIY tote box aeroponic system with PVC pipe and sprinklers. 4 of these badboys with 10 sites on each? I'd hate to have to maintain clogged sprinklers all the time.... Then again I feel like it's the most effective and fastest way to go with less waste/dirt... Thoughts?

I wouldnt trust amazon reviews too much, have you see the blurples they sell? Most of them have stellar reivews.
The advertised soundlevel is really low, which is nice. The thermal switch i would skip. Id rather have the fan blowing all the time rather than rely on a switch which can break down or get a bad reading.
This is was ChilLed and growmau5 chose for their very pro kit, apparently theyve had 0 failures.

Its got a littlebit better airflow and builtin ac-dc converter.

Edit: the thermal switch would be amazing if it could be used to control something like growcab temps. But the temp settings dont go down far enough, i think the minimum setting is 84F.

Don't use that, you will end up with tiny plants that yield one bud that's only enough to roll a joint.

Go with a bucket type system, 1 bucket 1 plant.

Haven't grown aeroponically like that B4. I see some of the results people are getting and it isn't what you describe. Besides I don't have 3 months to veg. Quick and easy one week max veg straight to 12-12. That way a 50 day strain will get you 7 harvests/yr. 40 single donks adds up.. have a look:

Tell me that's not incredible.
