I'm making the cross country move from the east coast to California. I don't plan on having any illegal contraband on me but I wanted to know 2 things

1 are there any checkpoints in any of these states?

2. What's the best alternate route to take if there are?

I ask because I'm going to be u-hauling my hydroponics gear and not sure what the individual state laws are for carrying it. Any advice on this as well would help.

you shouldn't have problems with traveling with these items as there also used to grow vegtibles and other stuff
id clean them really well and wrap them in thick plastic the stuff painters use to cover floors well painting
should be fine just go speed limit

There is a fruit inspection station in Yermo Ca on the I 15.... this pretty much brings you to L.A area, so if you ar going through Utah which I do once a month and down to Cali then you will be going through the station..... They do open up Uhauls and trailers.. Just have your shit boxed up..... They don't open boxes.... If you are going to take this route let me know... It is very easy to get around this station...... PM me and I will tell you what street to get off at and where it will take you.... I do it all the time when the traffic is backed up and it seems know one knows about this route....

I think that anywhere you drive into Cali you will have to pull over for inspection. When we moved there we had to pull over and they opened the doors of the moving truck and checked around with a flashlight. The main thing is NOT to take any plants, seeds or anything that could possibly contaminate the state by introducing a foreign plant; that seems to be their main concern. Happy moving! BTW, hope you already have a good job there; it's expensive and jobs are scarce.

Coming out of nevada to cali i know of one check station that they make u actually turn off ur car and inspect ur shit no matter who u r. I cant remebr the highway n nevada but it connects right up to the 395 n bishop, ca. Theres also 2-3 check points along the 15 and 5 freeways n cali but as long as u dont look like an illegal tryin to go some where ull b ok lol the only time iv ever been stoped was when i had my middle eastern buddy n the car with me and his gf from peru

Southern part? I-10
The last time I drove I-10 I considered sending the Governor of Louisiana a thank you card for the use of his fucking moto-cross track!! Do NOT take I-10; drive north and hit I-20 or you won't have anything but sawdust by the time you get through Louisiana. I'm not kidding.

Driving I 10 into Calif their is a check point, when I drive 3-4 times a year most of the time I am just waved thru been stoped a couple of time and asked if I had any produce, then waved thru..

I am NOT going to be doing anything illegal!! I am traveling cross country and not sure what the individual state laws forcarrying hydro equipment is. So I'm wondering what I wil encounter On the way. Obv I am not going to ask for advice in the state I live because I know the laws here. Therefore Alabama will be the first state I hit!
