UPDATE

I ended up going with a kingbrite hlg 550 v2 480 watt. Probably will be buying more led strips in the future for extra lighting.

What cfl fans would be recommended for a 5x5? Carbon filter as well?

Thanks for all the help!
In the future, remember and consider that (2)x HLG 260XL = (one) HLG 550. You could have got your HLG 550 for much less if you had just bought it in separate fixtures and pieced it together. You can get 3 x 260XL for less than 1 550.

Edit: nvm, I think the 260 is more expensive than when I last bought one, but the point still stands, roughly

Hmmm.... Not sure which numbers you're comparing too but from king brite a 260 is $184 and from HLG itself its 350. I got my 550 for $350 shipped. Am i looking at the wrong ones?

When I bought my 260s they were a bit cheaper and the 550 a bit more expensive. I think they have adjusted their prices since then but I'd still take 2 x 260xl or 2 x 320xl.

Ahh i got you! I did debate on 2 320s but didnt go that route obviously. Thinking I may add a 260 or something here in the near future to help the 550. Still have a lot to figure out! Thanks a ton for the replies and advice.

Yeah that's always a good idea. Plus you'll have another light for another growing space down the road.

Would a kingbrite LED 550 PLUS a 600 watt HPS fixture create enough heat to keep things warm enough, while also not being "too much" light for my tent?

Debating running both of these along side each other to keep my temperatures a little warmer. Could I run the HPS hood without ducting to keep the heat more concentrated or would this be TOO hot?

Current temps are staying around 60-65 but it will be getting colder.

Thanks for the reply and the info.

What do you think of the HLG 550 V2 480w QB from kingbrite on alibaba? Would you suggest that one, ALONG side another smaller one or strips? Thanks again for the reply. Very excited to learn more and get into all of it!
You need 2 of those 550

Ahhh yeah i suppose with a controller it doesnt matter too much how cold it gets as it will regulate when it turns on and off. Do you run your lights during night when its coldest or during the day during the winter because its still cold enough?

Also do you mean to have 2 ducts connected to the window, one bringing air and one that will be pushing air out? The one pushing the air out has the carbon filter connected to it im assuming to get clean stale air out the tent.
how did the light end up working for you??

Its done fairly well so far! I am going to be switching up from Fox Farms Ocean Forest because I truly think its a crapshoot in that soil. im getting great looking plants, some decent sizes, but then half of the crop are small duds. Love the light though.
