I agree that side-by-sides are too inconsistent to glean any real hard facts from them. One thing that we know for sure is that LED's are way more efficient to run, have a much longer life span, provide a tunable spectrum of light and produce far less heat than HID. Cost is always a factor that I consider. If are you just getting into this hobby and aren't sure if it is even for you, I always suggest starting with a CMH. It gives you a great jumping-off point to see if you want to continue adventures into growing and is a quality enough HID light that even if you do move to LED you can still continue to use the light alongside the LED. At this point I think HippieDudeRon is just stirring the shitpot by continuing to ask for these side-by-sides and doesn't really give a shit either way.

I would like to see a head to head competion style grow:
1. Tent or built room same size length ×width×height
2. Same exact environmental control devices ie. humidifiers/dehumidifiers, a/c, heat, controllers, etc. Run environment to maximize individual grow.
3. Choose your own genetics that are dialed in to your own environment and light.
4. Choose your own light: cob, qb, bars, hps, mh, cmh. Whatever wattage to maximize individual grow.
5. Choose your own nutrients.
6. Final product weighed, lab tested for cannabinoids, terpenes, potency.
7. All utility usage, nutrient usage, equipment costs, etc. recorded and charted for comparison.
8. Blind smoke tests done by all growers and a panel of unbiased smokers.
9. All metrics compared with agreed upon weighting to choose the ultimate champion.

You failed with LED after a year, where most of us just hung in there and tried and tested. after starting out with shitty leds 5 years ago.

You sir were doing it wrong and can't handle others do have results, so your only possible explanation is that the world is wrong and lying to you.
Otherwise you'll have to own up to yourself: yes you bought the wrong LEDs, yes you used HPS techniques in a LED grow. and yes you sold your crappy leds and went back to HPS because of failure to accept facts, even when they hit you in the face you just read around it.

If you lived anywhere near a greenhouse, , I live in the Glass City. The part of Holland that looks like glass when seen from space. I worked with lighting and greenhouses all my life and I'm telling you: if commecial flower farmers are binning their million dollar HPS setups for a 3 million dollar LED system and our skies that used to be orange at night (from the sodiumlights on the flowers) are now bright purple, one can be damn sure they are not doing this cause MAYBE LED will give them better harvests. Farmers here are known to be stingy mofo's....
