Question about black spots on young plant.

Last week I had noticed the Nebula wasn't growing quite as well as the other 3 and the only difference besides genetics was the Jiffy Pellet hadn't dissolved like the others. I pulled her up and noticed she was root bound inside of the pellet. I had to break up the majority of the roots to get rid of the damn pellet and then I replanted her. It's been 3 or 4 days since the replant and although she hasn't keeled over and died yet, her growth has come to almost a complete stop and she's yellowing and getting dark brown/black spots.
Is there anything that I can do to help out the healing process or is it just a matter of waiting it out to see what happens?

She's 17 days old (very small for her age).
400 w hps with 4 (1 per) cfls
Using Fox Farm Ocean's forest 3/4 and 1/4 perlite.
Added 1/8th str nutes of bush doctors root grow and applied just once in 3 weeks.
Ph is 6.7 using store bought distilled water.
Temps vary from 79 to 83 and mid to high 60's at night.
Using 3 gallon smart pots.

Hard to tell but it kinda looks like a P def. I start mine plants in smaller pots until the roots get established and then transfer into the last home. It's easier for feeding and watering in my opinion.

if you broke of your tap root it probably wont heal that small. spray the leaves with water before and after the light goes on to help it suck up some water. idk if it will help though. it might not even be your roots but thats my guess

Is it common to have a nute deficiency at such an early age using ffof? I was under the assumption that ffof had enough nutes in it to get you by for at least a little while. Month or so maybe?

I would'nt spray my leaves with the lights on, the droplets act as maginfying lenses and burn your leaves. If you have good drainage in your soil and pot just make sure that your soil is totally drenched when you water it. I use a bottom watering pot and water from the bottom and top. Bottom first, it helps prevent dry spots down in your soil. I don't water until I can stick my finger down a couple of inches and it does'nt feel damp. That leaf looks to have a P def. I can't say for sure, but the picture that I compared it to was in Jorge's Bible and it looked pretty fucking close my man. Hit me with a rep if this helps.

No it is not common at all. You caused the plant sever trauma at a very crucial development stage and your plant will never fully recover.

The best you can hope for now is a partial recovery with diminished growth but there would be growth at least.

My best suggestion is add a rooting hormone to your water mix, not a lot mind you. just a tiny tiny bit of powdered hormone. It'll take a few weeks for your plant to improve if that's the only issue. Give it a humidity dome and treat it like a hospital patient that just had it's stomach and esophagus ripped apart after being born in a taxi that just got in an accident. Very tenderly.

I agree. Let me look at some other rotting subjects here. I use RO soil and it's comparible to FF and I did'nt have any nute problems up to transplant.

I've heard that Superthrive works wonders on root developement and stress. I have some but have never needed to use it. I start my bennies and soil microbes long before I plant and the roots fucking dig it.

Thanks guys. I'm going to look into superthrive and put her under a humidity dome at least until she's big enough to take a couple of clones. + rep to both. Thanks again.

ya i meant like 30 mins before lights on and 30 minutes after lights out, not while the lights are hot. a plant that small wont be developing deficiency signs yet though, especially P, which isnt used much until flowering in my knowledge. unless the plant was takin as a clone from a mother plant that already had one of those deficiencies.

black spots often point to breathing problems (drainage) the plant cant get enough oxygen through itself (either from poor drainage or a damaged root sytem) and the plants cells suffocate and die completly very very fast, which is why the spots are appearing as black all at once.

maybe not though, double check eveything it could possibly be before you make a decision bcuz the wrong one will kill her fer sure, shes barely hangin on

She's from seed. I'll never use the pellets again. I've spent countless hours reading information about every stage of the way and I'll admit that the idea of them becoming root bound inside of a peat pellet was off my radar. No idea that would/could happen. You read up on everything, you get a decent grow or two under your belt, upgrade equipment, seeds (from seed bank instead of unknown bagseed) and you think you're doing everything by the book and out of nowhere shit happens.

I've decided to move her out of the veg room and put her into her own little area under a make-shift humidity dome. I'll basically treat her like a clone that's trying to establish her roots. Less light, high humidity and I'll spray a couple of times a day.

ya that might work, but im not givin a for sure answer that thats 100% the cause. try to find pics in other threads that look similar. and if you leave it in a humidity dome just spray the top of the dome a few times to get it wet and close it, burp it once a day but it should stay moist without you sprayin again for a good 3-4 days. just keep a close eye on her, she could go both ways at any moment so just watch. but honestly (if you have the means) try and get another seed and start that one, just incase thios one goes down you'll already have another to take its place just a few weeks younger. as someone already said in here, once your plant gets hit hard like that, especially in the early stages, shes never gona recover to 100%, you could definatly get some good bud off her, but not nearly as much or as quality as if it were healthy the whole life of the plant

Let's assume she makes it but never quite reaches 100%, if I were to clone her, is it possible for the clones to exceed what she's capable of? If not, I'll sadly dump her and give Pineapple Express a go.

Awesome news, she perked right back up and appears to be doing just fine. From the looks of it, she's only a couple of days behind size wise and it appears like she's going to pull through. The trick was the humidity dome me thinks. I'll take some pics and post em in just a bit.

jesus ill say! ya shes lookin alot better for just a day so she should make it to the end. if you take a clone, make sure its when the plants alot bigger (15-18 inches) cuz its already had alot a stress while little, make sure the clone you take is a newer branch thats entirely green and healthy looking, then ya its should outperform the plant you have now

Awesome, appreciate the advice. I'm going to try and get at least one clone from her and another from the wappa who is doing absolutely fantastic right now. I'll post another pic this evening. Again, thanks!
