Question about cotyledon

I understand from searching that losing a cotyledon should not be a show stopper, and many have had fine luck just leaving the new sprout alone and letting it go about its business. As I understand it, the casualty is usually a bit of slow growing until enough foliage develops that can do the whole photosynthesis thing.
Thanks for that info, however my exact problem is that it looks to me like there was an initial set of leaves coming and that they died in the "bud" so to speak, but it could also be a piece of hull still on the plant. If anyone has the time could you look at the pictures below and say whether this looks like a recoverable sprout or just a little piece of soon to be compost....

I am sure i will find out soon enough but still, if yo uhave the time to use eyes that likely work far better than mine would yo ube so kind as to weigh in.

Looks like your cotyledon are just stuck together. Give it a day or so and they'll separate and grow normally.

thanks, i actually saw the tore off cotyledon (read as was responsible for it's horrific detachment :-) ), this is my concern that what looks like the cot not opening is actually the real leaves dead - but i agree with the wait and see, thanks a bunch for the input i apreciate it :-)

Hopefully your plant can takeoff with one initial leaf.. I saw that guy running in the Olympics with no legs, so stranger stuff has happened! I like that you are giving it a chance.

well it fought hard but in the end, I did too much damage. when I noticed this I decided several things; #1 - slow down, stop fussing, and don't be bugging the plant; #2 this is not an endeavor for the impatient, so stop trying 15 different things you read and go natural, moist paper towel germinating , for me was a waste of time, it introduced one extra step of interaction that I did not need. So I planted number 2 by tossing the seed into a pot 3/4 inch down (not wanting to lose anymore expensive seeds on too shallow a planting, I don't want to see the seed hull again). So with that said, number 2 has been at it 10 days since tossing it in to a little potIMAG0241.jpg

yes i hope this one makes it 60 days ...lol
today or tommorow is transplant to a bigger pot and put into the secret jardin. I can't tell with this being so little if my new leafs had some issue yesterday but i am just not going to sweat it and keep my hands off of messing with it IMAG0262.jpgIMAG0261.jpgIMAG0260.jpg

thought I would post a couple pics of this little one now that it is beginning to come alive. nothing big or wonderful to all you "L33t" people, but for anyone interested take a peak. maybe it will help someone else. in fact - 1. 2x45w CFL with Clamp reflectors, 2x26w CFL on a trouble light, 2x26w CFL one on each side of pot. 45w are only 5100k the rest are all 6500 or 6700k. one normal size room fan (12 inch I think) blowing on med AT THE LIGHTS , plant only gets a side breeze. no lights are more than 7 inches away from plant. germinated by throwing into dirt 3/4inch way down, after a week I thin I transplanted to a big pot (next time seed str8 to pot- just easier) . was running 24/0 now running 19/5 . Strain is autoflowering, feminized, short rider. I take 3 or more pics each morning so I can see how much it has grown, was in a home made stealth spot painted bright white , since transplanting it is in my secret jardin (60 just a wee thing)

ull find these girls live up to the rep of 99 % of the females we guys know and love. resilient ,tough as nails and will keep coming back when u least expect it... and its tough to go without um. (guys Will talk to their girls in baby voice too!!!)

that's reassuring for sure. when I went with these I was hoping for a) stealth ability and b) idiot proof . I can pretty much state outright I will put it to that second test for sure :-) the baby talk.... I like to claim I am giving it co2 via my whispers :-) thanks again - wasn't sure about yield as I know one plant wont cover my needs per grow cycle but I need to stay at one plant so I am hoping to figure out a feminized strain that has a bit of a higher yield, the autoflower thing sounds cool because I really don't want to muff things from being a little anal, but I have started to realize it isn't too much to change a timer cycle lol. at this point I am as hopeful as every other first time hobbyist I suppose, but I would like to find a one plant solution to 7-9 g per week throughout the cycle, I can start a second while the first grows out (the stealth white spot can be used for veg of another and the secret jardin ds60 for flowering). but I really am hoping to find a single plant solution that I don't need to go there (at least until I know wth I am doing and I suspect it will take a year or so to really get my thimble of knowledge full... thanks for the input
