question about defoliation

Hi everyone,

This is my second plant from a random seed, now day 5 of 12/12 and it is growing bigger, should I defoliate after she stops growing? Or should I trim it as early as possible? Thanks for the help.

I personally have a dont pick more than 8 leaves a day rule i try to bend leaves under bud sites and pick as few as i can. I always get a 8+ ounces a plant no matter what i grow so seems to work for me.

day of flip or 20 days into bloom. No other time is going to be safe. I've learned this in the last 3 years of doing "shwazzing". Do not fuck with the plants past day 22 in bloom or you risk causing them to herm due to their hormonal stage of growth. Day 1 of flip is good to strip cause it will stunt the plants stretch a bit, then by day 20 you'll have another big bunch of hand sized leaves to pluck away, after that watch them buds swell and don't do nothing but take care of them.

tldr;
If you watch the plants and track their growth after stripping and flipping you will notice the stalks widen a lot in the first 3 weeks, if you screw with the plants in this stage of their transition to flowering you can cause a huge loss in yield due to smaller stalk and stems.

I used to do major defoliation for years and now i dont do maybe 5% like i say as littleAs i can yeilds are the same. I actually like leaving the fan leaves as they help if i run into deficiencies during the grow like little storage tanks. So if i get a big growth spurt and need it they got it. To each his own but tried it both ways, if you check the scales at the end and you’ll see its gonna be the same.

I find every new grower has this need to defoliate major as i did too. Then you grow 100 plants later and you do less and less until you realize hey i get the same amount or more if i dont defoliate ;) and then you are a seasoned grower. It takes time to realize but any long term grower whos tried both will tell you the same.

I wouldn't say that I defoliate anymore but the biggest impact on my yields from this sort of thing was learning the different between a real branch and a sucker, removing suckers will give you better results. stripping your plants to almost nothing hasn't really done much for me, although I would recommending trimming some out for airflow to combat pm.

air flow was my biggest concern in defoliate, humility here is very high, always over 70%, i find the leaves always wet if leave cover leave.
