question about females

starting my first serious grow. serious as in more than 1 plant and a different area for veg and flowering. i was only capabable of growing one plant at a time and flowering in the same place with the same crappy lights. never too bad results. always was able to get an ounce of nice bud off each plant. i can just go bigger and now i have a few questions. ive done 4 grows so far. each single plants. i germinated 5 seeds each time. picked the nicest looking one and planted it. each time the plant turned out female. it just surprises me i never got a male. could this have anything to do with only having one plant and it not being around any other plants. i thought maybe if the plants were surrounded by others it would cause more stress on them somehow and the chances for males may be higher. see im not sure if that is true in any sense i have absolutely no idea. im just hoping someone can find some logic and reason in something i have no idea about. thanks lot. happy smoking

no logic or reason, you just rolled a female each time by 50/50 chance. Growing more than one they will all have the same chances.

I can pick the best looking out of 5 and get a female every time too. You obviously know what (female) traits to look for. Females are typically more stocky, with twice as much lush growth as males.

This is how I ended up with all females out of the mixed bag-seed I planted. No luck about it

no i meant i germinated 5 seeds and only planted 1. i usually picked the one with the longest little root after a few days, figured it showed it was the strongest. i didnt pick 1 out of 5 plants i picked 1 out of 5 seeds and always got a female.
