Question about Flowering?

Ok so I know many people have asked when to flower and I have heard many different answers from 8-10 inches to 4-5 weeks.

My question is, can you flower too early?

If you do, what will happen? Smaller yield? Nuclear reaction?

My plants are about 8-9 inches tall and I want to go ahead and flower due to time and space constraints, but I'm not sure if I should.

The actual answer is when the plant reaches it's sexual maturity, being determined by alternating nodal arrangement and leaves with 5 or more blades.

You can fower too early, yeild will be effected, followed by the nuclear reaction.

If you gotta flower, go for it!

Depends are they from clone or seed? If they are from seed, you need to wait for them to become mature(i.e. preflowers, alternate branching...etc.) and that can take 3-8 weeks. Now if they are clones you can flower them at 6" if you want or you can still grow them big your choice, the difference being the clone was taken from a mature female(or should have been) and the clone carries the mothers age,so it is always mature and you can flower it as soon as it roots if you want.......but most growers veg for atleast a week....peace

What VM and 000 said. If you want a bigger yield, let the plant grow bigger. More branches=more buds (potentially). If space is an issue, then FIM it. You'll have a shorter bushier plant that would have more buds.

Thanks everyone for helpful, swift replies. I wish I could sit and enjoy some of the finished product with everyone here that helped me. :joint:

I am growing from seeds, and my leaves have 7 blades, so I think I'm gonna go ahead and do it.

FT, you said space was an issue? Keep in mind your plant will at least double in size. You can expect the plant to double or even triple in height. Make sure you have the overhead space for that. I quickly outgrew my 4' high growbox once I started flowering. Probably took about a week to outgrow that from the 18" plant I had.

True, thanks for the info.

I knew they would get considerably bigger, so I should probably go ahead and flower. Funny, My space is about 4' tall as well, so I'm hoping they won't get too big.

It still isn't too late to FIM the plant, that would help limit the height it reached during flowering.
