question about germination and sprouting plz help!

I have this seed and i germinated it in the dark, the root came out after 2 days and it was about 5mm long, i have put it in top soil but not too deep so the cracked part of the seed can see the light. the problem is that after 2 days of being in the light, the seedling hasn't sprouted it's stem and leafs yet is it supposed to do that in the dark or under light? do you think this thing is dead?

Have you watered it in?

The seed should not see any light. Wouldn't the cracked part be the taproot? So you have the taproot sitting in light? If so, no good.

Next time, put the taproot pointing down in the soil and completely cover the seed with dirt. Not a lot, just enough to block the light but allowing the seed/root to easily find its own way towards the light.

You could still sprinkle just enough medium over it to cover the seed shell thus preventing light from hitting tthe root. I think you're ok just give it a little time.

probably, if the tip of the taproot dries out it's toast.
