Question about germination

Was just wondering when the best time to remove a seedling that has sprouted from the humidome is? i've been taking them out as soon as the sprout is standing straight with its leaves opened fully, should i leave it in there though? I know that the warmth/humidity promotes root growth, so should i just leave them in there until they're too tall for the dome? Thanks i +rep everyone

I leave my starts in the humidity dome for the first 7-10 days mate, the new starts love the humidity like you said and they need to build-up a root system of some sort before they are displaced from that environment. Are you in cubes, pellets, or soil my friend? Good to have you on the forum :blsmoke:

I use the paper towel germination method and wait for a 1/4" tap root. At that point I plant the seed, root down, in soil cups (16oz), and stick them under 24/7 lighting for 2 weeks of 3 sets of true nodes, whichever comes first. Good luck, let me know if you need anything else :blsmoke:

personally, after my seeds crack i put them into my medium (soil) and put it in a humidome under a light right away. theres multiple reasons for this. one being as soon as your plant opens up and forms its true leaves it will begin photosynthesis like any other plant, so if i'm gone at work or somethin when my plant opens up, my light is already on it, secondly, and definitely most importantly, the light will create heat inside the humidome, which will also create humidity. warmth and humidity are what plants need to promote new root growth. good luck man! hope to see you pumpin out some chron soon! oh and next time don't be afraid to make a new post to ask a question, nobody here bites, everyone since i've been here (very short time) has been super friendly and very helpful.

KushCanuck-

hey thanks for the info man! i think thats what i'll be doing for these new seeds. i just had about 6 new ones pop today but i'm going to try your method and leave them in there for a bit, I am currently using a couple methods, still experimenting. Mainly just Jiffy pellets for some and seed starting mix in jiffy cups for the others. the pellets have worked surprisingly well though, i like em! thanks for the warm welcome, definitely +rep!

The light , yes its enough to start, but you'll need lots more, especially if you're going all flourescent, you'll be fine with that to start with though, keep it as close as possible to the plants without burning them (2-3 inches). As for the soil, that MG soil i would say is a no-no, basically only because it most likely has time release nutrients in it, and you don't want to feed your plant nutes til a few weeks into its growth, start with a seed starting mix, some sort of pellet, or a soil that has no nutes. Never feed your plant in the first 2 weeks of growth, at least i don't see any reason to. you'll just kill it.
