Question about HPS lights

I have a 400 Watt HPS that i recently purchase,and I was wondering if it would be compatible with MH and HPS bulbs or just HPS,a friend told me it would work for both but im just making sure so i dont fuck something up,let me know if u know,LOL :-)

Hi, all conventional HPS ballast can burn MH but they burn them hotter. The only difference is that the x3 wire in the ballast has a switch off mode to the MH so that it does not burn as hot. Just make sure u put in a 400MH in :) It will be fine, those bulbs are shit cheap anyways.-even for a good one! :)

hoo-wee I would not recomend. it might work, but guess who they'll call their house burns down? the person that sold it to them. which is me. Since my competition already had a lawsuit 9 years ago. I stay clear of "wing-it" reccomendations

Its very general base knowledge that any conventional HPS runs a MH with out any danger.. Your life of the bulb is reduced. But who cares'! Its the same components inside expect the extra wire to help fire the HPS. When a ballast burns up it does not make a fire! unless you placed it on news paper. Fires are going to start a point's of weakness in your lines and at connections. Grow fires are exaggerated and always hyped up more than it should be- its those fucking cops that paint a bad picture- just like they say hydro rates are up because of growers not paying their bills. BLah! Every grower I know pays' their bill on time. And like myself our monthly bills are around $892 to 1200. We pay and therefor, should our foot print help reduce the rates for the general population? Either way, its the same bullshit about cops and the hydro as it is for growers and their fire. IF, general it's growers trying to pull to much juice through old trailers or town houses that have aluminum wire. This is the true, I am not God but I do know what is truthful and honest.
No hard feelings hoagtech, its that my adivce I give is only spoken if I am certain and have experience. I know he and his family or neighbors will be safe. Any ways, bud just poped over. Again, no hard feelings. I just get rambling.

...wouldnt it just be easier to get a MH convirsion bulb for HPS ballast? I just got a 600 like that a few weeks ago,...if anything it'll last longer.

I ya I agree and might even try it soon for myself. I just wouldnt reccomend something to a customer that put out higher heat than what the bulb racket was rated for. But thats huge way to save money. Most 400w ballast kits come in either Mh or HPS. never switchable. It would cheap as hell to order like 5 400w HPS kits and run both veg and bloom. Good to hear hoagtech! I just ended up doing it today too! I am tired of buying ballast lol. At my place I tend to stick to my guns and keep everything up to par and orderly. This other place I am working at I tend to slack a little and hence do things I dont normally do!

Thanks fabfun, nice to see someone appreciated. Its kinda like when u grow pot and its sold but for all those fucks out their that smoke your stuff dont realize the care and you put your heart into it. They just think its another joint, gravity hit etc. IT seems like alot of people who smoke dont really care if its a name brand strain or not, just if it looks good. Guess it depend on who your market is and if they care its prob because they grow. haha.

I hear yea. prob is up were I live its the hub for all of canada so SOO much pot goes into this town that its very hard to make any money or sales, that why yuor stuff has to be good and presentable. If u want to make any money u have to have it moved up north or into Vancouver or up to Ketchican, Alaska or Heidea Alaska. Or the Yukon or North West Territories in Canada. Indoor pot was an average here of 2000-2400 a LB now its 17-19 for a LB of indoor. Fuck, two years ago I sold my outdoor for 1400LB and it was up scaled to 1700 for an LB. But again, this city i live is the centeral hub, that thats no joke, its in all states and crime reports, in Mccleans msg and the news in general. U gotta love the SFU states too.
