Question about mycorrhizae and nft tubes

I have a system with four 4" pvc tubes set up and want to add granular mycorrhiza into the system but everytime I do I get a brown slime that builds up on roots and in tubes goes away when I change res and add fresh water without the mycorrhiza. Any ideas?

are you serious or is this a joke post? what do you expect the fungi to eat in a hydroponics system? hydroponics nutes are chemicals already in the form the plant needs, there is no place for mycorrhizae to colonize themselves in hydro.

myco live on and in roots so they can work in hydro but if your using chemicals you dont need them to convert food as its free form

your better of with an enzyme product like cannazyme etc

also dont use h2o2 with the above products

I don't believe that adding beneficial fungi to hydro systems will have any effect whatsoever on plant growth. Those fungi do colonize the roots, but at the same time they spread themselves out into (colonize) the soil to mine nutrients for the plant, in a hydro system, there is no soil to colonize, and the nutrients fed to the plants are already in useable form for the plant, so what would be the point?

because in hydro organic or aquaponics it could be useful there is specfic myco products for hydro systems
making the root surface area larger could increase intake plus it may safe guard against other fungi attacks but like i said an enzyme product would be better

myco grow with the roots its not trichoderma for example indo lives inside the root

there ya go, thinking again. they work fine in hydro, i have used them for years with documented proof that they work. if ya havent done it dont give advice on it.

link to the documentation that they work? i don't buy it... what is it exactly that they do?

its called documenting your harvests and i have had over 100 harvests(not plants) and have been able to test different products in a very controlled environment. you dont have to "buy it" from me, just buy the product. but until you try it dont buck it.

It is a serious question, I don't want to debate whether or not the have an impact in hydro or not I have heard mixed reviews about using it but never any negatives except for the deposits that it leaving in my tubes and the slime I'm getting on roots. Thanks for the quick reply though.

I don't use any H2O2 or bleach in my system, I've never tried cannazyme but read a few things about it. I have Green Gro, granular and ultra fine only because they were given to me by my local hydro store as extras when I first bought stuff for this run.

Thank you for the defense. How do you introduce it into your res?
I have seen where people put little "tea bags" in net cups under plant and just let roots grow through it but when I did it the "tea bag" just leaked the powder all over and it got deposited into everything eventually got slimey within a couple days. Have heard of just mixing it in res which I also tried but the same thing eventually happed where the myco just deposited everywhere and turned to slime once again. I also thought about a tea but never made a tea before and really don't know much about it from hands on just reading. Any ideas?

i have tried three different ones and all were mixed in the res. greatwhite is good but expensive, zho was a few sample packs and aaron from botanicare said just add to res, and the best and cheapest is pondzyme with barley, although i never had the slime issue you are getting. there will be some foam at times after a new res but no slime. root growth difference was huge compared to no beneficials and plants were very happy all the way to harvest.

Do you think I should put the mix in a bucket and bubble for 24 hrs then add, maybe help it break up so it won't leave the grains all over?

After a few res changes with the Pondzyme added all I see is some small stuff in the bottom, no idea what it is, and it just gets tossed along with the old water/nutes. I did notice an increase in root growth after adding it. I do put a little Sweet in the nutes for the bacteria to eat, even in veg, and change every 2 weeks.

Alright everyone thank you for your help, you made my first ever forum post worth while. I'm just going to add it to res and call it good hope for the best worst case I'm changing my res a couple days early.

I make my own tea-brew it with massive bubbles in a 35 gallon water storage container from tractor supply-brew for 24-36 hours-I use ancient forest in a 400 micron sock from e bay and hang it over the bubbles-I add black strap to feed them while they multiply(small quantities) and i introduce it to my ebb and flow-the results are amazing.I am just saying. Not telling you what to do-I am no expert-just trying shit out that i researched and i wont grow without it.
