Question about reservoirs and drip systems

I recently bought a Power Grower Eco system, its a drip hydro system and im thinking about buying a few more. It looks like this

i didnt realize that id have to hook it up to a reservoir because i figured the water held at the bottom of the system would be enough.. i am very foolish sometimes...it has that blue hose on the side of it that is meant to hook up to a reservoir but all i need to know now is how to go about making one, can i just buy a rubbermade tub and drill a hole on the bottom-side of it and connect the the hose from the drip system to it? or will that flood the drip system to much??

fill it up turn everything on see what happens

an air pump $15
Water pump $25
rubbermaid tote for you res. $10
and you are set spending less than $80/plant and able to spend more money on things like lighting, fans, filters, nutes etc.
