question about the power consumption of LED.

my current room has 2200 watts of hps. (two 600s one 1000) anymore and I trip a breaker. I was thinking about the conversion to LED and I was having a hard time figuring out if LED wattage is equal to HPS. I know they use much less power and produce more light but does that mean I can run 4, 1000 watt LEDs without tripping the breaker since they use less power. or is the wattage being used not changed and i could still only run the same amount of lights just it will use power to do so?

Power consumption is less with LEDs for the same output as HID. So basically 600w (probably closer to 500w, honestly) of good white based Samsung lm301h LED IS EQUIVALENT to 1000w HPS.

cool, so four 600w led is equivalent to four 1000w hps right? my breaker can handle 2400 watts of HPS but not 4000watts of hps., but if its LED can i put 4000 watts of LED lights on that same breaker without tripping it since they're using less power?

Watts are watts, providing you're looking at the ACTUAL power consumed by the fixture.
Seems you're used to looking at led fixtures that advertise in 'imaginary max wattage before it fries' leds.

Watts are Watts, unless you are a Chinese LED company. And actually, the Alibaba sellers are usually accurate, it is the American sold Chinese lights that use imaginary wattages

HLG claims their 620w draw light is equivalent to a 1000w Double End HPS. I, for the most part, trust HLG. They seem like an honest company, and so far, my light is performing!

Yeah, the HLG 550watt power draw model would be an even more perfect situation because 4 of those would equal your HPS power draw exactly at 2200watts.

OP: tell us about your space, dimensions, how you handle heat (ac or vented) how many g/squarefoot, full cycle or just flower and theres plenty of people here who can help. The problem is that for a loooooong time 1000w led light is just 100x10w chips with a 200w power supply so what you see online, ESPECIALLY ON AMAZON, is usually just shit. The only thing that matters is how many watts the light draws, and how much light this draw produce.

Dont worry, youre in the right place....
