Question about ventilation

I am 2 days into the seedlings sprouting and they are about 1-2 inches. I have been keeping temps/humidity perfect but what I lack right now is exhaust. I am running a few cfl and just leaving the vents open with a small fan blowing fresh air in. I plan on getting more cfls, making a real hood for it, and getting the 4 inch inline fan this weekend. At this stage of growth the exhaust is not a huge issue right? Ill be able to run this way for a few more days with no issues in the eyes of you guys? Thanks.

My seeds sprouted 11/3, I'm not running my exhaust yet, I keep the tent open and have a fan between the lights and plants. running 160 watts worth of cfls in 2 80 watt clusters. when I turn the mh light on I'll turn on the exhaust.

Yeah, exhaust isn't technically needed ever really. it's just for keeping lights cool and moving through the filters to keep your smell out. I run tents of testers under LEDs and never have any fans or exhaust at all. As long as you can breathe they can breathe.

yeah if you dont want exhaust and dont want supplemental co2, good luck in getting anything worthy. start thinking hps with proper exhaust, you get more lumen per watt for less heat, best bang for your buck

That's not trru at all! I've never used co2 nor do most.

This Is not really correct. The only reason for exhaust is not keeping lights cool. The reason for exhaust is to change out stale air. cooling off the light is usually a separate fan only cooling light. Proper air exchange will definately improve your plants

i agree you need fresh air, but as long as your not in a sealed environment you can get away with no movement. I certainly use fans in everything but my LED tents. I do open the tents and have static movement throughout my grow though..

So on the flip side of things....passive intake. How do you stop light leak and have passive intake? Or how do you leak as little as possible? I assume if you have to leak a little, then just run a little extra wattage?

Also if I am runnin in 20"x20"x40" I think that is 9 cubic feet roughly. Would it be ok to use a good 200cfm fan and flter and pull through the light so that it cools and cleans or would I HAVE to run two fans and use one on the cooltube and one on the filter? The way my setup is right now it would be very much easier for me to use a single port on the tent for the filter/light.

I get a furnace filter that you can trim and has a couple of layers. One green layer and one black one, some Velcro, a stapler. Goes right on tent vents... Or if it's a round vent just cut a couple of big round circles use both layers again, then put that in the holes and pull the tent vent strings to close.

im sayin if you have no exhaust and no CO2 and you want to flower, you will end up with very little if any except if you quit your job and work as a timer every day to open the entire room and close it every 12 hours to allow air exchange, even then you will have to account for the mold and requires dehumidifier, but what the hell do i know hehe

Awesome that sounds easy! I figured thats the sort of response id get but I just want to double check.

I get ya, and surely take your word. I know Co2 is important and I am almost ready to get a nice 4 inch inline fan. Im really hoping that a good fan and a filter will keep the light cool as well, considering it is just going to be running at 150-200w.

If I have to I will get a cooltube and use a second fan/port for that. Or go LED so the heat is less and then it should be fine.
