Hi guys,

As you can see from the pics, my seedling started fine (imo). But now 10 days on its much taller lol. What i would like to know is, do you think it would now be able to go under my 400w lights? Has gone from seedling to this stage just sat in my bedroom window so very happy so far.

I have a wardrobe setup that i want to transfer her to as shes getting kinda tall to be sat in the window without nosey neighbours getting suspicious lmao.

Any help would be much appreciated. She was watered the day before recent pics were taken if it aslo helps.

Sorry if this has been asked already, just want my 1st grow to be as pain free as possible :)

Anybody??? Even a point in the right direction if ive posted in wrong place lol

Cheers,

G

Yes you can put it under the 400. Sunlight is more intense. That shouldn't be a problem. Keep the light at least a foot away. Maybe add add a little more soil too.

Aside from major stretching. She looks happy and healthy

Do not put it under a 400w. I would suggest a 250W if its just 1 plant , and just stick with the 250w , if u want to make it perfect u would need to put it under a 250w MH for the first few weeks til it got nice and strong then switch to a 400W HPS light , only if u got enough space , if there is not enough space DO NOT go with 400W cos it will get very hot , stay with 250W HPS from start to finish and u should be good to go. and ill tell u like everybody on here told me the first few days of me asking questions READ READ READ , and READ SOME MORE . until u get it down.
Good luck with ur grow .

400 willl work fine. Just vent it and make sure there is a fan. You can veg with hps just fine. Hps runs cooler than mh. Especially if you already have the light. just veg longer and lst .

Many thanks for the reply. Im using 2 6" fans and have air vent at top of wardrobe. My light is a 400w Dual spectrum lamp if it makes any difference?

Thanks again for the advice :)

Just keep an eye on ur pH levels in the water and the temps in ur grow space/area. and u can use a 400w , just keep in mind also 250W and it will stay cooling n will do the same thing as 400w and save u 10-15GBP a month on ur light bill.

If you milx dolomit lime or oyster shell flour into soil. That regualtes and buffers ph.
So no need to check ph

If you do compost teas. You definitely dont do ph. That buffers ph too. organics is cheaper and better too.

Did you have a negative experience with a 400 watt light? I am curious to know, as I have been vegging with a 400 watt MH for years and years, to great success... I keep it literally inches above my plants, and it is perfect for a small closet growing space which holds around 12 plants in 1 gallon potsIMG_0094.jpg

I respect everyone's opinions, but no need to get so extreme in telling someone not to use something that is actually a great growing tool, and takes up as much electricity as a t.v. A good way to plan out a grow is to see what light needs you have... fullfill them and then create a ventilation system which can keep your room at 67-76 fahrenheit with 50-69% humidity...

just my opinion

Again thanks for the speedy replies :) Here is a pic of my setup(minus plant of course lol). I do have a bigger desk top fan i can use when she gets bigger if mine are gonna be to small?

I also plan to lower the light once plant is inside( Ive read various distances to keep my light at) so if anyone could help lol.

Overall the wardrobe is 5ft 7" tall so would like to grow her as big as poss(being greedy lol)

My vent is cut into top of wardrobe which is 6" in diameter,i do have some hosing i was going to hang down a foot or so to help but not sure if i need to ??

Also am i right in thinking they should be getting a cycle of 18/6? If so for what sort of time period. Would like to try and get the max poss out of the space available.

The strain is Delicious Northern Lights blue(new to me but had great reviews)

Once again thanks for all the helpfull replys!! Trully appreciated :)

those 2 little fans will be fine for 1 plant. all you are looking for is air circulation and they will do the job.

the problem with a 400w light and a cabinet that big will be light penetration on your plant. you can keep the light 6" from the top of your plant but it is not strong enough to penetrate to the bottom canopy on a 5' plant. i would veg the plant till she was 18" tall and then switch to flower. before you switch to flower though i would lollipop the plant and top her as well. cut off all of the bottom growth and only keep the top canopy. i would say the bottom 2/3rd's of the plant and all small branches. keep her trimmed throughout flower too. this will give you a nice even canopy and larger main colas.

something like this...good luck

Huh? not to be a smartass here but what do u mean it takes up as much electricity as a TV r u using a 52' old school JUMBO TUBE TV or something ? thats the most weirdest thing ive ever heard 400W light + ballast is compared to my LCD TV 42' that uses 75W.

thanks bud. another tip to eliminate plant stretch in the first weeks of flower is to run your plants under MH light for the first 2 weeks of flower. then switch them to HPS light. this will help limit the plant stretch giving you shorter, thiscker stems with tighter nide spacing. this means heavier and denser buds. good luck.

Damn, Scooby.. that's a nice looking grow. I'm gonna make a note of the advice you gave above regarding the use of the MH for first two weeks of flower.

thanks Kronika. yea, i switched over to doing that a few years ago and i'll never switch back. lots of guys getting stretched out plants cause they are using HPS lights from the beginning of 12/12 and it's leading to thin, weak stems that can't support the bud growth you want. using the MH lights for those first 2 weeks really helps reduce that stretch. your plants will double in size and that's it. no growing 3x or more.

it also helps to run your plants on veg nutes for those first 2 weeks as well. your plant is still in the growth stage and running it on veg nutes will help provide it the extra nitrogen that it needs during this phase. it will also help prevent late flower N deficiencies that most growers get.

happy growing.

Awesome. Thanks for the tips on both the mh lights and the veg nutes. My tent is rather smallish so anything I can do that will help guard against stretching is fantastic; avoiding any deficiencies is especially important to me as I already slipped up and had an issue with a calcium deficiency - noob that I am.

Hi again folks, Ok so more probs for me to sort :(

First of all i had my setup running for an hour with my 400w light(minus plant) and noticed i couldnt get the temp below 100!!

Went and bought a 250w light yesterday and had the temp running at 85, so put my plant under with the light 18" above my plant.

After 10 mins i noticed slight wilt/curling so raised the light to 26" and left for a further 20 mins. I then came back to this so removed and put back in window while i seek help.

IMG_0156.jpgIMG_0157.jpgIMG_0158.jpgIMG_0159.jpgIMG_0160.jpgIMG_0161.jpg

Can anyone give me some advise please? I also plan to go and buy a desktop fan today if that may help.

Temp is a little high i know, but why are my leaves burning when the 250w light is over 2ft away? Obv im a noob so please be gentle with any criticism lol

Thanks in advance :)
