question on topping clones.

i have always ran from seed and topped when nodes where symetrical. these clones on the other hand are not symetrical. will topping them produce more tops or would i be better snaking them in a LST, and letting the side branches turn up as tops? feel like topping the clones will be like cutting of a top for one new node

that is a good question! my answer isn't 100% because i never topped a clone. but, theclones will still side branch of I'm correct. toppin sends the chemicals that are being directed to the top to the lower branches so they explode with growth. some one correct me If I'm wrong

You still get two off of it, just that one is lower than the other. I top clones all the time (and then LST). You just can't really do a traditional mainline with nice even tops..

Clones often have an uneven profile when they come out of the dome. Remember, your clone has a plant age equal to the donor mom. So clones at 5 inches are older than seedlings at 5 inches. I either top or FIM clones as soon as they have an identifiable crown. In the veg room you can't top or FIM to early, for my needs. I grow them short and bushy, so, cut 'em early. Works for me, BigSteve.

I also do both with my clones all the time. I find the topping helps more with just maintaining an even canopy across plants, I get far more tops from tying the clones down with LST it seems.
