Question, What Point is it Too Big in Veg?

I have this nagging question in the back of my head, and I don't want to waste one of the plants in my limited plant numbers to find out.

I have heard 1 foot per gallon for growing MMJ. So I got a 5 gallon container. Now, what if in veg I grew the plant to say 10 feet in a 5 gallon conatiner. Then put it out to flower for 10-14 weeks. What would happen?

Would the plant:

A) Stop growing at a certain point and then not finish flowering due to a lack of root space?

B) Flower but not stretch much at all?

C) Die because it is unable to support its own weight?

So if you push the plant to the absolute limit of the container in veg, THEN put it in flower, what happens?

Or can you just happen to grow a 20 foot plant in a 5 gallon container?

It'll stretch like crazy, need watered every day(practically), and be damn near impossible to keep fed properly, resulting in both fert burn, and deficiencies, and a generally, unhealthly plant. Not to mention, that you'll have to tie up every branch, once the buds start filling out, because they'll be weak and flimsy, and unable to support anything.

it would grow just fine and not die or anything like that.. the only downfall would be that it wouldn't grow to its optimum that it could if it had otherwise been given a bigger home to live in..meaning that your yield would suffer some, and maybe a lil loss of potency as well, but that last part is only a guess on my part..

thats a dandy of a question my friend, one which im sure the answer to will vary. imo a plant that is root bound just isnt getting watered or fed enough. i have this plant right now actually, where the roots are comming out of the top of the soil, and going back down...root bound? probably. i cant stick my finger in the soil anymore, and i am flowering and watering every other day. i was watering every 3rd day...it is very hard to get a plant rootbound i think
