Hello. I'm a long time smoker, short time grower. I have some questions about breeding. People on this forum say that you have to know too much about botany to create succesful strains. And I don't know that much. Currently I'm growing indica bagseeds. I've had a plant which is tall and had many long side brances, but the buds were narrow and the high was good but not perfect. On the same grow I've had a plant which was smaller, no side branches(only flowers on the main leaves) but the flowers were a lot larger. Also the high was better and taste was more fruity. So I decided to breed them to make a long and wide plant which yields better than it's elders and a high which is between them. It worked. Now I have both the elders planted. The cross that i made is better than the two, and is exactly what i wanted.
But there are some problems. There are two of the new strain planted firstly. Both are female but one of them is longer but narrower, and one of them was shorter but wider than the other one. But leaf types, stem width, nutrient reactions were same(They are still at vegging). Also, elders of this new strain which are growing next to them now are exactly like the new ones(one is taller but narrower, the other is shorter but wider). These differences on the new strain are way smaller than the difference between their elders because the elders were different strains. But when I order seeds from a seedbank, every plant of the same strain looks exactly the same. I remember seeing some threads about stabilizing genes when breeding. Do I need this to solve this problem? If so, how can i do that?
Another question. If a male plant pollinates a female plant which are different strains, will the male one be more dominant on the new strain or the female one? Anyone knows the percentage ratio?

The one on the left and the one on the middle are the same strains and the one on the middle is the father(stressed to hermie because i had no males that time). The one on the right is the mother. It may seem small but after harvesting it's yield was heavier than the other big ones. Also you can notice the difference between the one on the left and the one on the middle even they are same strains.
I can also post images of my current grow which includes the new strain if necessary..
