Questions about caterpillars in Veg.

So I know they can drill into the stocks, Im sure thats not happening.

I DID find 5 chewed up and chopped tops (in Veg)
And im spraying Forbid and have BT.

But What the hell, Iv never had caterpillars EVER so I have no idea at all what to expect.

Now that I have found them, I spray and im safe yes?
Spray and its over?

Yeah it is. But now that I have caught the fact that I have caterpillars in VEG and then spray BT is that good enough?
I have no buds at all,

So avid, Azomax and Forbid wont kill caterpillars?

I have HELLA FUCKING BIRDS eating them I know there something going on.

you know you only have to spray avid or forbid a couple of times right ? maybe pre teen and once before flower right ? stuff is bad and last a long time. It does not kill caterpillars. Azomax is iffy at best for caterpillars. spray your BT, you'll be fine.

BT doesn't kill on contact, the pillars have to eat it first (but it kills all sizes). It can take a few days to work however. What seems to work best is a regime of BT (at least once a week) and checking your buds daily (if you have an infestation). Which is a bigger pain in the ass than trimming :hump: Checking every fukin' bud, each morning, for pillars and pillar damage (mold)..... :spew: Not a fun time :wall: So do yourself a favor and pre-emptively strike those lil MF's before flower:cuss: The best defense is a good offense :bigjoint: This year I am BT'ing (Safer pillar killer) from late veg onwards, and tenting them at night. Even having to squish them into 25 sq ft, which is not gonna work much longer...lol I hope to stem the tide and reap the majority of this year's hard earned bud :clap:

Read the bud worm thread at the top of Outdoor Growing. If you read the last few pages, you should find everything you need to know. Bt is the BOMB. I've used it for about 30 years. I originally used it to kill Horn worms on my tomatoes. Another grower told me about bud worms, so I started spraying my weed as well. It works. Spray at least every three weeks during flowering. Wash down your girls a couple days later. Repeat. A lot more details in the thread mentioned, above.

its that time of the year in the North East for bud worms...a few plants are in full bud..some are in transition...the ones in transition I used azamax with pyrethrum..I had flea beatles and some cats..it killed the cats with in hours....and no more flea beatles...the ones in bud I used BT..and checked today and found some dead juvies..problem is..you got to search for dead ones just like live ones..lol..PITA...if you leave them it will cause fungus later on...this week I do a actinovite spray any ways....its never ending with the end of season pests...

BT may not kill the caterpillars or worms right away but it quickly stops them from eating until they die.

Bt will not kill adult tent caterpillers , not realabely at least

That has ben my experiance in the NE and most publications support my results nation wide

"Bacillus thuringiensis variety kurstaki, or Bt, is a biological insecticide that works best on younger (smaller) caterpillars. Bt is selective in that it targets only caterpillars and is relatively harmless to fish, birds and warm-blooded mammals. Because Bt kills all kinds of caterpillars, use it carefully around butterfly gardens. When using Bt, you must cover the leaves thoroughly to ensure that the caterpillars will ingest enough of the toxin for control."
