lol better get a flame defender to save your house when that piece of shit fan catches fire. not only is that chinese bullshit, it's knockoff chinese bullshit. worst of the worst.

Do you have any evidence or links to support this claim ? Seems like the windings would have a themal fuse.

i know people that import that kind of garbage unfortunately. they go to china and pay a factory down the road from the real factory to make a knockoff then they ship containers of them to the u.s. and flood the markets with them. they put whole families lives in danger so the can undercut the quality inspected and certified products out there so they can make a dollar and you can get a "deal" if that's what you call risking a house fire.

but hey, what do i know? i'm just an asshole right?

No sir. I never said or even implied that you were "an asshole"

I was just wanting to read up on your claim is all. I have never heard of one of these fans catching on fire. All of these cheap fans from walmart have cheap chinese motors too I'm sure. I guess I'll try google ?

Well, you do come across like an asshole, but in this case you may be right. I dunno, my fan doesn't ever seem to get hot, but I did buy it knowing that it would likely not last more than a year. I planned to upgrade to a 6" soon, since I bought that one when I had a smaller tent. You may be an asshole, but you're prolly right, and I will be sure to get a ul listed fan soon..

Well I came up empty on google. Every fan that ever quit on me in my life just stopped working. The UL listed one on the blower in my furnace made a burning smell when it quit, but did not catch on fire. I think the windings are thermally fused and if not, the windings will just burn until there is an open condition. I have considered using an inline fuse at the plug just in case of an over-current condition. I may bump that up on my list of priorities.:peace:
