Questions about HPS lighting

Hey all thinking of stepping things up a little from my cfl grow and came across a buddy with a deal on high pressure sodium lights, to be exact he has 4- 400 watt apeice high pressure sodium lights and is asking 200 bucks for the works, lights are multitap w/attached ballast and are supposed to put out 50,000 lumen each. Now I have never used hps and was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of hps are? Would you take this deal?

how big a area would four 400 watt hps lights cover with very good coverage on the plants?

I use a 150 hps with two plants in a 2x2 bt 4fy high grow box i made im sure u could do 6 plants in a 6x6 space in my set up i dont have a cool light connection so i put a small 6 inch fan blowing down on my light and i LST my plants to make sure everything gets the same light

With 4 400 watt you could do 8 plants in a 5x10 space. Make sure you have something good in mind to keep your temps down.

thanks I didn't even think about heat build up, something more to consider

Big step up from CF's but yeah, it comes with it other considerations to keep the environment stable. Sounds like a hellofa deal if its 200 for all 4 hell ya.

Unless your going to have a cool tube setup then the temps are definitely going to be an issue
