questions for growing

this is my first attempt at growing.
i got the seeds from a sack of mids so its nothing special. i wanna do this as cheap and fast as possible. right now i have a 40 watt lamp on 1 plant i just put the seeds in .
i have a shoe box with foil layed on the bottom then i have a plastic container with a hole at the bottom with some soil in it. i put 2 seeds in the soil and watered it now its under the 40 watt lamp.

how long should i keep the lights on thru out the day?

how often should i water?

how long does sprouting usually occur?

Sprouting occors on most seeds ive never had one not germ on me

If you are going to be vegging your plants you should put them on 18/6 which is 18 hours light 6 dark then when they are the right staage to produce there sex or when ever you decide go to 12/12 to flower them water once every 2 or so days

you should have lights on 18 hours vs 6 hours dark for veg and 12/12 for flowering
water when it dries out
can germ in 24-48 hours give or take

one 40 watt light.... what kind of light are you using and what is the color temperature (will be in kelvins on box)

you should have 5000k-6500k for veg growth and 2700k-3000k for flowering growth

40w lamp? Are you talking regular light bulb? If so, thats no good. Get a 6500 CFL
You need only one seed per conatiner, buried about 1/4-1/2 inch below the soil
Place a humidity dome (or saran wrap with a few holes for air) over the container
Keep the soil moist...not wet
It normally takes a few days

put saran wrap over the container, you need the humidity high to germinate also make sure the temps in the container are warm 75°ish. light can be on anywhere from 18hrs to 24hrs a day. after you initially watered the soil you should not need to water for awhile. the should germ in 5 days give or take a couple days. good luck

its actually ghetto im using the light from a lava lamp i figured the heat and light with a fan would give the plant an outside feel?
