Questions for you seasoned indoor growers

Well I have never grown Indoors, but with the money I get from this years harvest I plan on trying to set up a perpetual harvest, and have a few questions about indoor growing.

1) If Im growing against a wall, will the wind from fans reach plants near the wall?

2) I plan on growing in the basement so Where do you hook up ducting if you want to pull air from outdoors? Would I knock out a window for incoming air and another for exhaust?

3) Would it be better to use lighting with a rectangular reflector or circular? Considering I will be growing either on the ground or on tables in rows of 2.

4) For a first try indoors should I stick with what Im used to as a grow medium (soil) or try out coco?

5) How do you neutralize the Ph of water and get it's PPM down enough for giving nutes to plants? I will be a the city that is notorious for bad tap water. How can I cleanse gallons and gallons of water?

6) How can you keep ALL of the light from the vegging area from the flower area if they are side by side?

7) Do you seal off the grow room or leave it open to air (Im growing in a basement more than likely)?

8) Does anyone have good links for nutrients for soil/coco?

Sorry if this is a lot of questions, but I dont want to fuck up horribly when I try to grow indoors. Im sure you understand that

Mount an oscillating fan on the wall and it will be able to cover a lot of your grow area.

2) I plan on growing in the basement so Where do you hook up ducting if you want to pull air from outdoors? Would I knock out a window for incoming air and another for exhaust?
If you can do it without making it look suspicious you can do that. Do you have a front porch or anything that you could hide an intake in? Do you have a chimney you can exhaust out?

3) Would it be better to use lighting with a rectangular reflector or circular? Considering I will be growing either on the ground or on tables in rows of 2.
Depends on your temperature control. I've only used rectangular because I always need air cooled hoods. I've never seen an air cooled parabolic.

4) For a first try indoors should I stick with what Im used to as a grow medium (soil) or try out coco?
I am biased because I'm a soil grower, but I say stick with soil. There are a lot of great soil recipes that you can use from clone all the way through flower and all you have to do is water and use molasses. It doesn't get any easier than that.

5) How do you neutralize the Ph of water and get it's PPM down enough for giving nutes to plants? I will be a the city that is notorious for bad tap water. How can I cleanse gallons and gallons of water?
Get an Reverse Osmosis filter for $200 and run all your water through that. Add some organic Cal/Mg to each gallon before using.

6) How can you keep ALL of the light from the vegging area from the flower area if they are side by side?
Grow Tents, dry wall dividers, or panda film.

7) Do you seal off the grow room or leave it open to air (Im growing in a basement more than likely)?
Seal it off and add CO2 if you can. Probably best to seal it anyway. That will allow you to control the odor, which is one of the most important aspects of growing indoor. You don't want your house to stink.

As for links, I think SubCool has some in his Super Soil Recipe, but I've never used that. I use all Fox Farms products.

Google MR GREEN chronic grow
download the torrent/DVD
it is full of basic info and a nice grow room build

you can get a basic RO system off of ebay or buy one anywhere
One of those under sink jobs they make about 2gallons every day or buy 5gallons jugs at store
I use citric acid as PH down
get a 4pack of digital timers for fans co2 CFL pumps and a 20+ amp model for the HPS
the smell will be stronger indoors so Carbon filter setup might be needed

Sounds to me like 2 grow tents would suit you. Put a 600w MH in one for veg and a 600w HPS for your flowering tent. You can generally get some great deals on ebay for complete tent packages including fans, carbon filters, lights etc. But that depends on the scope of your grow op.
Greatest of luck to you. I would love to see some pics once you get it going.

I have actually seen most of MR GREEN on youtube, but he did hydroponics and I just cant seem to grasp to concept of hydro. All those hoses, reservoirs, flooding, air stones, its all confusing as hell to me

As far as timers and carbon filters go, almost all of my setup will be bought online except for like tarps and reflective material and good ol' duct tape.

2 grow tents sounds like a good plan. ANd I was planning on 1000w MH and HPS considering how many plants I wanted to grow. But as far as Ebay goes, I dont have a paypal for one, and I dont want to use a credit card to order stuff online, was gonna do money order or something.

Pics will def be posted if I have a camera and a computer where I will be doing all this, considering I will be moving to a new house to do this and I dont know If I will have internet or a computer for that.

How big is your space? What equipment are you considering? What is your estimated budget?
RIght now I have no idea how big the area is.

equipment will include: 1000w MH and HPS, fans, carbon filter, ducting, probably an ozanator (something I heard of in a grow from HIgh TImes), and general grow supplies.

Budget Im guessing will be around $1600-$2000, depending on how well my monster plant grows =0 its taller than me and im over 6 ft tall, and the light cycle round here is just starting 14/10, not yet 12/12, but the plant is showing a lot of pistils, no buds yet though.

1. depends how far away the fan is

2. I dont or wouldnt pull form the outside as you cant control the temps outside. I exhaust straight outside but pull fresh air from the house.

3. depends on the shape of your container, if its rectangle use the rectangle reflector and the same with the circular.

4. get your feet wet again with soil. I started in soil last year in april and am now with aeroponics. Check out my signature for my grow journal.

5. i used to buy distilled water at the store and just add whatever nutes and also added a wetting agent to bulk up the water a bit.

6.. panda film

7. mine is open to the air untilk it gets time to flower in 12/12 then its all enclosed with panda film to keep the light out during the dark cycle.

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is the best soil out there if you cant make your own/
