quick homemade C02 question!

does this release valve thing play a big roll in making a homemade c02 kit or can i jus use tubing to disperse the gas?

i have a simular home made c02 setup and i just use 1/4 " tubing to dispence the c02, freely. and it works fine, and i have been doing this for a few crops now. so u should be fine without it.
