Quick Question, Has anyone ever gotten a Aurora Indica Sativa Pheno? I just did.

Well the title pretty much catches you up. I have 3 Nirvana Aurora Indicas going right now, one of which is clearly sativa dom. It is fairly stretched out, especially considering the light distance (400w CMH). She has 2 sisters in the same hydro setup right next to her that admittedly are not as healthy, but show much more Indica. I also have a jock horror that is being LSTd pretty aggressively and its bushy as all hell, so its not the light.

Anyway, its a lanky plant, with incredibly large (mostly long) fan leaves, to date they are the longest leaves i have had yet, (reference ak48, jock horror, snow white, full moon, etc) and the smell when the stem is rubbed is an almost toxic level of skunk, a smell i absolutely love btw.

So has anyone had experience with this pheno? What can i expect?

Are there any rare Phenos possible in Nirvana's Aurora Indica?

Nirvana isn't the best about sharing their lineage, so i can't tell you if this is a F1 seed with tons of possibilities or a f8 that's rock solid.

I hate it when that happens...because really I can't tell you what a strain is by looking at a seed, so how do you ever really know what seed you are getting...? I mean I doubt somebody is mixing up the seeds but if they were we would ever know...as for your question no I have not grown this particular strain at all and can basically offer no help at all. Sorry I just read the question and have grown a seed that was not at all what I expected and been like hmmm, was that even a "thus and such whatever" Or did I just grow something else? All I know is I don't care weed is weed and if I grow it I get to smoke it...and is this site acting crazy for everybody or just me?

yes, i just grew 10 out over the summer, ended up with 7 males and 2 females, i got the sativa pheno, smelled like hash and death, tasted almost hashy berry but the indica was much better representation, grew nice and squat strong sidebranching but overall not as good as my last run of this, got like 6 fems last time.

i can take the slight instability as nearly all the males had indica dom traits, i thought they were females, grew short during veg.

Haha i totally get that. Its further frustrating because I'm finally not mixing up seeds anymore haha. I label things now and i don't procrastinated the labeling process.

It sure could be a random seed from another plant, i mean one single tiney tiney pollin mak something new, though id like to imagine that seed breeders eliminate that as a chance.


Well i like the smell, and once i fixed the Rez temps and ph, its seems to be a very vigorous plant.

All three of my AIs are 3-4 ft. tall sativa phenos, which isn't really what I expected from the pics on their site. It's my first real grow, so I thought it might just be me, but after searching around, it seems like quite a few people are having it happen. I'm a little dissapointed (no idea how they'll smoke yet), but Nirvana offered to send me another five seeds when I mentioned it to them, without me even asking, so I can't really complain much. And all in all, it's still weed, and that's what counts.

Edit: Cripes, your AKs looks wayyyy nicer than mine. I'm going to have to try SCROG next time now that I have some idea of what I'm doing.

Thats kinda funny, i mean here they are claiming its their most potent INDICA strain

Nirvana has been good to me when i have problems, i had some auto jock horrors that never auto'd and they just sent me normal fem ones free. nice

Im excited to see what this AI will bring though, the smell is pretty fantastic even though its in veg. I will surely have to take a clone.

As a side note i feel this pheno is not suited for scrogging, at least you would have to be gentile. I gave the top a pinch to crush the stem a bit, this promotes bushing and redistributes the auxin focus, and it still hasnt risen back up, where as the jock horror next to it looks like it was never touched.

As a side note to your side note, I'm thinking they fucked your seed mix up. Aurora Indica is made up of INDICAS. I don't care what pheno you got, it shouldn't be sativa. I don't believe it even with pictures. They fucked your seeds up. But hey, what you get might be better than what you bought, so it could be a good thing. That strain is Northern Lights and Afghan. Ive done a run of 30 seeds, never got a Sat pheno.

They must've changed breeding regimen or something. You should have Indica phenos and nothing else. I guess I was lucky and got original genetics, because 2 years ago thats all I got, a bunch of kick ass fat Indicas.

Haha it must have been a mistake. Tomorrow i will snap some pics to show you what I'm working with. I was planning on posting some pics of her roots anyway cause they are the best lookin roots I've ever had haha.

I will contact nirvana to see what they say. I was really looking forward to an indica like this, something for contrast.

Contrast is exactly why I decided to go for mine too. I thought they would balance out the supposedly "sativa-high" of the AK48. Oh well, weed is weed :s

I personally would really appreciate seeing your Auroras. It would give me a little perspective as to whether or not the issues I'm having with mine are because of me, or because I got some iffy seeds.

Edit: I think you'd have some luck if you decide to talk to Nirvana. They gave me five more femmed seeds simply because I said "these look a little mutated/not like what I've been led to expect, but it might just be me".

I will post some pics tomorrow then (for reals this time). It's funny because it's 100% the most saliva strain i have seen haha, i suppose i should also mention to them the full moon (supposedly full saliva) that looked a lot more like jock horror, a middle ground hybrid.

Ok here they are. For refrence, the nearest (smallest) plant is a Sannies seeds Killing Fields. Behind that, the bushy one, is a jock horror that has been pretty aggressively super cropped and lst'd. On the right is the Aurora indica, keep in mind the AI is about half the age of the JH and the KF is very very young.

Roots look happy, and the plant in general looks alright

I should mention this is a Rainforest 66 Aeroponic system set on 30 min on 30 min off, by now its kinda DWC as well with as long as the roots are.

Looking very nice! Pretty similar to mine, but probably a little healthier, haha. Those roots are crazy! Mine definately looked very sativa too, at least to my somewhat inexperienced eye, but they did frost up like a more indica within a couple weeks of me switching them over.

Mine are around week 7, and will probably be done within the next 10 days or so, going off trichs and bud density. Kind of suprised me because my AK48s are looking like they might need to go to week 9, and I definately expected them to be done first.

I plucked a little bud the other day to give it a test, and it was pretty decent stuff. Not really super-indica stoney or the best I've smoked, but it was still a good, mellow high, and it had a good smell after a little drying time. One plant should give me a little short of two ounces, which isn't too bad for a noobish first grow IMO, and I think I can get at least 3/4 oz each off the other two. Your's looks like it should turn out even better.

Old thread... but those leaves look indica/indica dom hybrid to me.
