Quickest way to sex/pheno new seeds.

When you say bud clones, do you mean you're cloning a plant that's deep into flower? Is this the same as "monster cropping." I'm looking for the best way to pheno hunt regular seeds as quickly as possible.

Also how often does revegging a harvested plant work out? Seems risky but obviously very efficient if it works.
There's no way to truly pheno hunt until you smoke it and I don't wanna have a ton of useless clones around so I just clone off or re veg the underbud bush after I trim up the top 60% of the plant.

I haven't had an issue with re vegging yet. 20/20 easy. Even males will re veg.

TWENTY FOUR HOUR LIGTING and transplant if they are root bound at all.

You can certainly clone a plant deep in flower. There will always be bud sites in the middle of the plant that are very undeveloped, so it's not like you are cloning a healthy bud....rather trash you would have not harvested. These will root fine, and will take much longer to reveg and take off vs. a clone taken before flowering. I have actually found that clones taken during flower root much faster, (50% on average)........but revegging can take forever. If you are like me, and like to try new things, you use this to your advantage. I do not keep mothers, but take clones of clones. If i want to try something new, and skip a run of my keeper, i start new seeds when i normally would take my clone. I take a clone of my keeper 4-6 weeks from the onset of flowering. By the time this clone has rooted, revered, and of flowering size, my new seed run has already been harvested. Basically taking clones of flowering plants takes about double the time of a normal clone to get up to size. This enables me to sneak in a new run of something else(if timed right).

Has anyone tried putting an UNrooted clone under 12/12. I don't have room in my mother box for another 10 clones and my flower box is occupied already so there's no room to move anything out of veg. As a test I've taken 1 clone from each plant and immediately stuck them under 12/12 lighting to test the results. The initial seeds were planted 12/4/15 with clones taken on 1/29/16. It's 7 days later and they seem to be attempting to flower even without having rooted. I haven't disturbed them but they are in clear cups and I don't see roots as of yet. But despite that I do see a definite change in the plants structure when compared to the plant the clone was taken from. In another few days I should have more clear results. It should be noted that I have no intention on keeping or attempting to flower the clones, this is solely to determine sex.

The sexing of plants was explained well, so I will go right into trying to find that keeper. You want to compare how they grow, which one is bushier, or smellier. But I also keep the tops from each plant separate, and smoke them. I put them through the Smell, Taste on inhale, Taste on exhale, High and Other Comments testing that I use with all my breeding stock. Start out in the morning before you have smoked anything else, and do one hit, take notes, wait ten minutes, take another hit, take notes, etc., etc, etc. Of course tops isn't the same as bud, but if it's a keeper, you will be able to tell it apart from the others. And write down your impressions as soon as you have them. There is something about getting high and having a memory slippage.

But when in doubt, take a cutting.

Thanks guys this is exactly what I was looking for. I'm still probably going to over insure myself with extra clones from veg, but it's good to know there are other good options.

Put a lot of perlite in the medium so roots can expand rapidly and your plant will also grow more rapidly. And when you get around the 4th node, switch from 24 hours to 18-20 hours of light as this darkness will make the pre-flowers more pronounced; the preflowers usually appear around the 4th, 5th and almost always by the 6th node.

As for pheno hunting, it's difficult to impossible in veg but I've a GDP x OG cross and if tips of the spurs are purple then I know all the bud goes purple and smells of berries; if it's green in veg then I know it took after it's OG parent and it'll be piney and remain all green with a more OG buzz.
