It's down to the Vortex VTX 8 or the 8" Can Fan. Just don't see how ducting attached to both ends of the Can Fan.

if your upgrading to more efficient lighting Rrog why not go with the most efficient exhaust?price?=== hyper 8/stealth, is on my short list when I finally upgrade/move...

I'm liking the hyper fan Psugaro- no doubt. Just having a hard time figuring out how the duct / filter connects to both ends.

I'm going to bungie chord these and they'll be inside a sound isolated room, so I'm now more looking for balls than quiet, and these are all pretty quiet anyway.

So right now it's either the 8" Hyper Fan or the Vortex VTX

vtx 1200 will move your whole room if you want balls, lol

nothing beats the hyperfans when it comes to cfm/w on the market that I know of..

It's about how many boxes it checks off, hyperfan hits allot of them, except max cfm/price in its class but it's running at almost half draw than the rest..............look at some of the kilowatt reading videos

seamless/integrated FULL dimming is big imo

your $$$ your call

The energy conservancy is fantastic, and an 8" has balls.

I just can't figure how you're going to fit a filter on it. Looks like it's designed to attach to one side only

Looking at the hyperfan, it looks like you can only connect to one end of this, not both.

one end connects to a duct. The other end to the carbon. Suck thru the carbon filter and blow thru the duct.

The hyper fan appears to only able to have something connected at one end and not this end viewed below.

There's no flange on the front, is there. That's my point.

See at 2:05 in this video. No flange - just duct tape...

I will address one more thing to think about. I'm not the kind of guy that buys something to use and then throw away.

The fans that are cookie cutter type, all look the same, use standard parts. You will be able to disassemble the fan and take the bearings to any parts house and get a replacement. In the long run it is cheaper because you can break them down, wash, clean and replace parts. The all metal housings are a plus for me to.

I think any decent fan can be run and run quiet. The way you mount and design the room is a big factor.

@Rrog if you built a room to house the fan and you use a little insulated duct it will be fine. You could also add egg shell foam to the walls to help with noise.

Those foam toppers for a mattress at Walmart work great. Get the ones that are an inch thick. They have a flat side and the other has a design on it similar to sound absorbing foam. I paid like $10 bucks a piece for the ones that fit a full size bed.
