Its making me depressed, (No im not a red neck that drinks down 12 packs)
But I can dust off a bottle of red wine in an evening by my self.
Its making me depressed.
Will pot smoking and no alcohol fix me up?

Has any one done this?

I got higher then normal blood pressure also from excessive alcohol consumption.

I quit getting drunk about a year ago. Haven't really been drunk since; I'll go out and have a drink or two once a month, but in the end, it came down to I wasn't enjoying it, so why do it?

Our demons are personal, and we can only share what has worked for us, which may not work for you. That being said...
While alcohol is a depressant, Depression is not caused by alcohol. It is a mood, a state of mind. I'm not diminishing it, I suffer from it as well. The only thing that worked for my depression (I went through a couple of years of my doc switching prescriptions to "dial in" the treatment) is what I've been self medicating with for years now, Marijuana. I now no longer take meds except for cannabis. It takes personel commitment to face our fears and overcome our issues, when I realized that I'm responsible for my state of mind and my own well being and ACCEPTED that, I was ready to move on. I hope this helps. Good luck. Always seek help if you need it.

I dont drink and i smoke pot, and it works very well, i used to be a big drinker so it seems to be easing my cravings. Pot is the cure!

Replacing one addiction with another is normally not the best idea, but we are talking about pot here so i'd say yeah, your alot better off a stoner than an alcoholic. You could use/think of it as a agent of change, think positive and have confidence in yourself, start smoking, and get your life on track where your happy with it. Thats how i used bud to turn my life around nicely. A little depression here and there is normal, but just think positive and have confidence in yourself(i know i said that part multiple times, but thats because its so very important.

It can be good. Much better to be addicted to pot than booze. Also better to have a hard candy addiction than a cigarette addiction.

True, it can be, but the underlying addiction aspect is still present. It's usually better to fix the problem w/addiction than to change the addiction itself. So i guess we are both right. lol

I wouldn't replace alchohol with cannabis in order to get intoxicated. That kind of defeats the purpose of beecoming sober. You can smoke and not drink, but you really don't want it as an alternative, because you don't want to be dependant.

Yea if being dependent is your plan then I would suggest against switching addictions. But I dont think replacing smoking with drinking is bad, after I started smoking a lot I kind of slowed down on my drinking. Now I only drink when we go out but we smoke through out the day, while still being productive too.

I don't think it defeats the purpose guys. Alcohol will literally kill you and rot you from the inside. It will physically destroy your body. Pot won't.

Thats true, thats why in this case i think it may be a positive even though its technically not the ultimate best solution, honestly addictions are not as bad as you'd think imo as long as it doesnt destroy your body or your personal life. Thats what ive thought of after giving this alot of thought lately. An addiction can be a great source of motivation. If marijuana wasnt illegal it would not destroy a single life the way it does now, its not the smoking (or eating....or growing) that gets you, its the legality of it that ruins lives.

Personaly I quit weed and alcohol back in 79. Havent had any since but that is just me. I just reciently started growing for sick people that I know but I will still not drink or smoke. Wether real or imagined I don't like things that I think are controlling me so I will stop doing them.

It can't hurt you to stop drinking. Personally I think alcohol should be made illegal. And yes, I'm aware that it will never happen. I just hate it. It causes too many bad things to be able to justify having it legal. IMO
