heyy theree, i have my first question, i have 6 40watts CFL´s, how many plants can i grow under those?? i was thinking as many as they can fit under the tubes lenght..at least 8 plants i guess, what do you think??another think i just thought now, is it better to put them horizontally or vertically??? allright thanks in advance..peace!
I'd say two plants. 2 cfls in-between the plants, 2 cfls on either side of the plants. ALWAYS try and "feed" light to more than one plant with a cfl if possible. Always keep them within a few inches of the plants.
One cfl per plant is not going to near enough. even the way I described it for two plants...picking up another pair of 23 watt cfls wouldn't hurt. (You want to cover the plants in light)
I have 6 cfls and a 2 tube 40 watt cool white 60" fluorescent fixture over three plants now. I have two more cfls that are warm white that I'll mix in for flowering.
So my grand total is:
3 Daylight 6000k area cfls.
2 60" 40 watt cool white tubes (4100k)
5 Warm white cfls (2700k area)
I'm guessing my total lumen output to be in the ballpark of 17,000 lumens for flowering, 14,000 lumens for vegging.
My three plants are growing well. Nice color, quick reaction to changes in light positions, no droop, no browning.
Of course I need to invest in some sunglasses as I cannot see right for about 3 minutes after going in there...
