I am under the impression that photosynthesis...the process in which light is ABSORBED (remember that...kinda important) and then turned into food is a chemical reaction that occurs within the plants cellular walls.

Plants don't absorb green light in any matter including reproductively. Light is absorbed by EVERY cloryphyll containing plant through photosynthesis ONLY. Since clorophyll is the material used in producing food from this process all LIGHT REJECTED WILL BE THE COLOR OF THE CLOROPHYLL...its that simple..

Photons....protons....come on.....if its green then it reflects GREEN.

Blue reflects blue....so on and so on...

I'm trying to figure out how to rig an alarm to my aeroflo to alert me when the pump goes.

It can't rely on the electrical current stopping because if the pump quits at night it could still have juice...see what I mean?

Do you run the pump 24/7? I could hear my pump going, I used an ART-DNe timer and just pressed the reset button to test if the pump was on. Woosh 1000gph went flooding through the system and sounded like a wicked waterfall. I recommend a CAP ART-DNe timer so you can cycle on 1 minute and off 5 minutes.

PS, your forgetting that any light, LED, CFL or standard bulb emits infra red and your plant will see that. A candle is also not a good solution.

This thread is generating all heat and no light and reminds me of the old farmer who was asked what he thought of UFOs. "I'm against them," he said.

Why dont you buy a cheap baby monitor and at night turn it on. Put one next to the pump and keep the other one with you. If you dont hear the pump running then you know something is up.

Why is that EVERYONE ELSE can leave their plants in the dark?

Why do you have to adjust the pH during dark? I adjust mine ONCE A WEEK!!! DURING LIGHT HOURS!

What kind of system do you have that cannot be left unnatended... seems like something is off...

I can leave my shit alone for days...weeks sometimes...

Why can't you allow dark to be dark?

Good grief! you DO obsess over that pump! There are BATTERY operated sensors that could give you the alarm if that PERVERSE pump should decide to screw you. Good luck & good grow.......BB
