i went to my plants today and saw that two of the plants had their lowest branch cut off, but the cutting was sitting right under each plant. the cut is fairly clean. the cutting has had a couple leave taken off but they are also sitting right under the plant. do rabbits or any other plant eating animal take branches off completley before they eat? i also found little holes that somthing dug about 2 inches wide no build up of dirt around the edge i stuck my finger in and it goes pretty far down.

can any one help? do you know what it looks like when animals eat plants ? is it a clean cut?

lol well I woodnt assume rippers would just simply cut off a couple low branches, take off a couple leaves then leave the actual branch and bud on the ground. If theres rabbits in your area, I can gurantee you thats what it was. I have a terrible problem with rabbits, thousands everywheres you look, I dont think its possible to grow around here without chickenwire. Any plants that I didnt have have fenced in, If they had a chance to get big enough, were always missing the bottom two feet of the plant, it would only be a a big old stem on the bottom 2-3 feet up from where rabbits have repetitively gone back and munched on leaves. Rabbits dont eat the bud, they for some reason just love marijuana leaves compared to everything else in the woods, Chicken wires the answer. lol and rippers would have took entire plants, just think about it, first year outdoor growing I assume? happy toking

yeah first year outdoors, i just didnt think any animals could be that damn precise lol. so a person was next possiblity hah. buds arent big enough to smoke anyway just little tiny buggers. used a terrible outdoor strain that i took from inside. its a whole new ball game in nature i have to say.

Sounds like gophers.

I hate the prarrie pocket gopher.

I also but cages around the roots to stop them an rabbits from digging under.

i have somethin eating my leaves it too doesnt eat the buds but its not a rabbit, its somethin small enough to climb the plant, after it cleared all the lower leaves it could get, it climbs eats the leaves up top and ends up breaking some branches, i was thinkin a chipmunk or squirrel but i didnt think they eat leaves,

its gophers they ate the my smallest plants stalk and it was laying on the ground when i went to water. i thought it was rabbits so i caged up my plants and then the next watering everything seemed fine but i looked closely at the bottom of my best plant and it was missing a branch and the main stalk looked like something was chewing on it i still thought it was rabbits i watered my plant and a hole appeared right by my stalk so i knew it was gophers at that point.

so i went to home depot and the guy there recommended gopher traps their like mouse traps you dig up the hole put the trap in it then burry the hole back up.
i checked the trap the next day and it killed the gopher but i had to make sure he was dead and slam a rock on him a few more times :)
i set the trap again but luckily he was the only one he ate almost all my roots on my plant i saved it just in time now its growing again not like it was but its better than bein dead.

so go pick up some gopher traps their guaranteed to work u better hurry tho you dont have much time before it eats all your roots
