Just visiting my dad .. he was in a bad roll over and broke his neck in three spots.. so he's paralyzed on his left side. Broke his c1 which most people don't survive a c1 brake, so he's very lucky to be alive..
It's hard seeing him like this..
But I'm great full he's still here with us..

You rarely see a full Axis (C1) fracture survive. Mostly they expire before help gets to them and with only 1 side effected chances are it's not a full subluxation (displacement). Hold out hope without full displacement he could come back completely. This is a long haul, not a short sprint. Hopefully there are no complicating issues. Stay calm, get plenty of sleep and be there for him a little now but more later when he gets home and speak to him as you can now but prioritize rest and recovery. He's going to need help from the family when he gets home. But the hospital has the acute phase.

I'm staying with my mom for awhile to help her out with stuff around the house,, and for support.
I'll be redoing the bathroom soon and making changes on the house to accommodate his wheel chair

If you've never seen her work I recommend checking out Vivian Maier. Her negatives sat in storage unknown until someone found them. She's regarded as one of the best street photographers of her era and she never knew any of the fame or money that would go along with her skill.
