It is a bright idea to live in a lighthouse. lolFeeling Adventurous? The U.S. Government Is Giving Away Lighthouses
If you've always wanted to live in a lighthouse, now is your chance.www.mentalfloss.com
I always wanted a lighthouse.
Just the steps . I’ve been to the one on Ty B island SC , St Augustine Fl and a few more on the east coast but the light bill comment was for shits & giggles. From my experience, when you pull up in the parking lot and look at it, your thinking “ that is cool af “ but when you reach the top it’s like f’this I’ve still got to go back down. The views and memories with my daughter are worth it but it’s hell a dude with bad knees.speaking from experience?
After visiting about a half dozen, the most impressive parts to me , are the masonry, the step construction and the lenses, the lenses are something truly special. It is a bright idea to live in a lighthouse. lol
It would be fun for a short time. Then the reality of maintenance would set in.
Cut past from that link.
To qualify for a lighthouse at no cost, the receiving entity must be a federal, state, or local government agency or a nonprofit or educational organization. The recipient must be able to endure the cost of maintenance and open the lighthouse to the public for educational or recreational purposes.
For individuals who simply want to privately own a lighthouse, the GSA is offering four: Penfield Reef Lighthouse in Fairfield, Connecticut; Keweenaw Waterway Lower Entrance Light in Chassell, Michigan; Stratford Shoal Light in East Setauket, New York; and Cleveland Harbor West Pierhead Light in Cleveland, Ohio.
Size can vary. Keweenaw Waterway, for example, stands 68 feet tall, with an interior space of 1000 square feet. Penfield Reef is 51 feet tall with 1568 square feet.
According to the GSA, previous lighthouse sales have ranged from $10,000 to nearly $1 million. Roughly 70 lighthouses have been sold to the public since 2000. While past buyers have sometimes converted them to private residences, prospective buyers shouldn’t get too deeply invested in any romanticized notions. Virtually all require some kind of restoration, from painting to more extensive remodeling, and most do not have utilities. As you’d expect, getting insurance can also be costly.
Just think of the plants you could grow!Too many f’ing stairs. Plus the light bill is a bitch.

Ahh yes stoners and food service…. they go together like….. shit if I know but it must be a perfect fit because my daughter wouldn’t even consider any other kind of work. And she has a masters degree in the field. When she talked me into spending a half million to put her through she was saying I have a friend making 175,000 fresh out of school on the hospitality side of things. But she’s a stoner and she doesn’t remember what nonsense she was promising when I signing paperwork.Rough work for this doughboy the last few days. Made countless trays of pizza dough, cut all the veggies and cheese, and the meats, made sauce. Wasn't as bad as the day before when i had to drive a town over just to pick up some extra sacks of flour and a couple of boxes of mozzarella. I have to cut 7-10 bus tubs of shredded cheese daily. Marijuana helps me focus, but sometimes i just don't have time and stupidly had no edibles on me either.
Boss running around yacking with her wicked witch if the West voice as i mentally beg her to leave so i can smoke a fucking bowl. Ginseng and coffee and an overdose of vitamin D surging through my blood making me feel happy despite everything, but not as happy as i would be if i was high...not as easily distracted either. Have to stop rolling dough because they are out of cheese, fingers hurting, feeling rushed, bouncing around the tiny kitchen like a madman...oh shit, completely out of bells too. Blasting metal. Empty stomach..coworkers getting in my way. Patience patience patience...
Everyone gets to leave at a certain time but i must stay until all my shit is done! So get out of my way (no, patience...patience patience).
Despite the madness i love this job. After years of washing dishes (off and on since i was 15) I am now a prep cook and i like it. Held on to this job for a year now and i love the hustle. Just please, go away so i can smoke a bowl.
My fingers are cramping. Where's my coffee? How is it 3:30 in the afternoon already? Last i looked it was 1.
I can be high. play my music, be left alone. Don't have to talk to customers. My manager likes to smoke joints with me before shift. It's good at the pizza shop. we all stoners here.
